bro what are you talking about, lazer isn’t “rivaling” anything, it’s way too early to even say that
ugly mane had actual fans, like niggas that would actually cop merch and vinyl off of him, and pull up to shows
don’t confuse tiktok hype and memes with a “following” man
???
Are you saying NetSpend has a bigger following or are you too baked to recognize the obvious sarcasm in my initial reply
I do like how Dim has self awareness and interacts with his fans though.
But that kinda music is only gonna buy you so much time when it comes to interest.
???

ngl thot u were serious
my fault

Lmao hell nah I even said Waka in 2011 which was like one of the biggest cult followings I've ever seen across any genre
Lazerdim having one of the strongest cult fanbases ever is a crazy take lol
He’s nice though
You can’t trust the opinion of anyone who says they are garbage bc they still listen to the same artists who have been stagnant since they were in high school
Go listen to ur drake lil baby bullshit then and we will enjoy people actually doing interesting things

You s*** on Yeat and we all say he's one of the only good ones And he's the most popular one!
The idea that every generation underground has to latch on and become big is not always true. Art has periods of instability and stagnation, maybe we are reaching that point. its not like TV where we kind of in a golden age with new 10/10 shows dropping every year . Hiphop prolly on the decline despite ppl sayin its back this year
That’s true. Honestly there hasn’t been a lot of dope s*** this year. Some but not too much
nobody mainstream putting them on like that, remember asap rocky was helping majority of underground back in 2015-2016 + much more artists were doing this

This is really it.
People underestimate how important Rocky was for Carti and how important Drama was for Uzi.
They helped em transition to the mainstream. QC for yachty as well.
When i clicked on this thread I thought by underground you meant slums and stuff. I think the current underground youre referring to is just too new. Id say give it another couple years some of them will blow up. Uzi and them didnt all blow up in just one year, it took a few
Being a plant isn’t an early backing, it’s also the facade of being indie
There was no facade for these guys, they just weren’t signed to a major label until late 2016
ohh your using it like the proper old definition. There were plenty of those back then though. Id argue uzi definetely downplayed his industry connections. The biggest ones though arent plants.
yea post it, im interested
ill take the time to make a version of this with titles, topsters2 shut down so i have to redo it. but this basicaly highlights the evolution and lineage of the modern underground. I think it can help you pinpoint where things go wrong for you and what you do or don't like. Helps frame where we are at rn.
doesnt cover sample drill and detroit rap though. I have a seperate one for that. But its a lot. I could also just discuss this with u somewhere else if u want better help like grasping why people like certain scenes or the appeal, and easy entry points.
Industry isn’t giving it a push.
Slayworld could’ve been something but they had no guidance and they all had some sort of allegation
slayworld going down as the raider klan of this gen
I'm dating a girl younger than me that listens to the underground and it's dogshit so there's no hope.
