It's a dumb commercial, people who complain about it need to stop letting corporations play with their emotions. They do make a good razor though, I got the 30 pack you can get at Cosco and one of those things last me at least a month

I recommend buying a safety razor and then you have an actual quality razor for life

You take the worst traits of people, cartoonishly amplify them to simple caricatures, and put them in an ad to appeal to the twitter generation and think that's gonna make anyone with the ability to contextualize beyond the level of a 13 year old wanna go and buy your product.

It's a slap in the face and disgusting pandering and virtue signaling.

Why is brand trying to be morally righteous
    It’s disingenuous
    Just sell product and STFU

I’m sure people said this same thing when the NFL threatened to take the Super Bowl from Arizona because they wouldn’t recognize MLK day.

I don’t see why people have an issue with companies/brands taking stands on things

Because companies care about ONE thing and that’s profits. Being “woke” is the current cultural zeitgeist, so what do companies do? Make woke ads in hope to look morally conscious and gain more profits. I doubt the suits really give that much of a s*** about “taking a stand”

It’s just dishonest and kinda a slap in the face

I mean I guess. Of course a company wants to make money but I’d rather have the message at least be out there than ignored

Lmao how, I promise that commercial doesn’t affect your life or anything. If you like the product buy it if not then don’t, but being upset over it is some real weirdo s*** lol

    Agreed.

Because a corporation makes an ad, who’s only concern is pushing their product, about it then it matters more?

It is an ad. They do not necessarily care about the deeper meaning behind it. If they did then they would have been acting on it somewhere in their 100+ year history.

Companies are amazing at target marketing on current trends. F*** them, lol

“i’ve always thought the phrase was dishonest because it implies masculinity itself is wrong.”

Never got that from this phrase and I never thought there was any sort of attack on masculinity. Seems like y’all are inventing a boogie man

then you simply don’t want to see. especially with all the examples i just gave you. UK lawmakers are currently working on a bill to enforce a 6pm curfew on all men. such an idea wouldn’t even be conceivable if it weren’t for propaganda like this commercial sowing the seeds.

Companies aren't some monolithic thing, the people who directed and showed up to audition for that commercial most likely care, the crew and design team worked hard on it because they liked it. You're worried about suits when Gillette literally has thousands of employees it doesn't come across as disingenuous to me

it’s basically toxic masculinity: the commercial. i’ve always thought the phrase was dishonest because it implies masculinity itself is wrong. all the things labeled toxic masculinity can be done by women. and for every man who did evil there was a man his polar opposite.

also the same things they demonize in men they end up calling on. white feather feminists in WWI used to shame men for NOT enlisting in war because they needed their protection. ayesha curry was crying on tv because men WEREN’T catcalling her.

the constant attack on masculinity is a cancer. the canary in the coal mine was the black community in the 70s. the hood became a matriarch where the father lived outside the home and women raised the sons. feminism brainwashed them saying they don’t need a man and state welfare policies restricted support to families with a man in the home. incentivizing single motherhood. the “black men ain’t s***” movement was born and the boys they raised started doing worse then the generations that preceded it. the more you push masculinity out the worse men become and society in general.

The phrase toxic masculinity doesn't mean what you think it does.
Too much of anything can be bad, you can even get water poisoning if you drink too much. It's not impying that masculinity is bad altogether. It's more so saying that at certain levels and ways in can manifest itself do more harm than good.

Your post still missed the point though, you're obviously punching down and I feel like you know it.

My post didn't miss the point. They literally took s***ty traits from a portion of men, and then made a commercial insinuating that all men have to be better to make up for it.

Could you even imagine that ever existing for women? Just the s***tiest traits of women and make a whole ass commercial about it to sell items.

Are men more abusive towards women than vice versa? Yeah. Do these abusers represent men in general? Nah. Is this ad an attempt to pander to a specific movement? Maybe. But, does it potentially start important dialogues relating to point number 1? Probably, yeah

i generally hate when corps try to push a social message cause it's so easy to see that they dont give af. it's usually them just band wagoning some buzz worthy topic in order to sell more of their product.

No you can't imagine it because it's obvious punching down. It'd be uncalled for.
