    I was in that thread and people were acting like we have a problem with him sampling. It's putting that disclaimer on the cover that's the problem. Especially with how obscure some of the samples are, people will end up giving him more credit than he deserves

    the 3rd one and last one are fine and I actually love the way he flipped both of those breaks, the rest are crazy tho lol especially the ones for Puppet and Thank You

    While I think OP's point is overblown, there is something to say to question the validity of written, produced, and arrangement by Tyler Okama which is prominently featured on the cover art of the album.

    Not trying to stir any s*** but I think it's a worthy discussion about how we view bodies of work by how they are presented to us.

    nigga ARE WE STILL FRIENDS? was the highlight of that entire project for me

    i didn’t know he just lifted a sample and repeated a hook over it

    honestly, that thread made me respect Tyler even more. the music sounds good to me and he did it off the finesse. good for him. and people really really undervalue the discipline it takes to dig for samples, no matter what gets done with them

    sampling isn’t the issue here, it’s moreso Tyler acting like he’s some sort of prodigal music savant that’s wholly original, but then he s***s out a project filled with largely unprocessed samples, and then stamps it with “produced arranged etc. by me”

    kinda wild to me dawg ngl

    I see what you mean.

    that "written and arranged" s*** a little extra for the songs themselves but let's be real it's not like his whole career has been some grift and there is a lot to be said about the originality of the accompanying era of this album as a whole.

    I say he earned the right to put that note on the cover

    OP is right but at the same time taking and mixing samples like that is pretty much how sampling started so it’s not the big aha gotcha it was presented as
