There's a reason people fw his Rihanna collabs, she brings out his strengths as a melodic rapper and he doesn't do the Canadian mob s*** on those songs. Just straight up songs about love that people can relate to.

Sorry, listening to Take Care and vibing

That's where his strength lies, he used to be so relatable.

Was listening to Take Care a few days ago, Cameras / Good Ones Go gets me in the feels all the time.

nah, Drake never been about experimenting with his sound, far from it.

he is a pop rap artist.

TC and especially NWTS had some interesting moments

  • Aug 14, 2020

    probably not

there'll still be some good tunes tho

Drake doesn't have to and he's already impacted the industry plenty. He has nothing left to prove, which is a mixed blessing.

I think the more meaningful question at this point is whether or not he's likely to challenge perceptions of his music and what he's capable of. Right now, that seems unlikely. His sonic palette and subject matter is locked in tightly because it has worked for him.

Fans will stay happy, people who are bored with Drake won't have their minds changed. Either way, the money flows. He is who he is. I never expected him to be Kanye, he just isn't that kind of artist.

    well said

Kanye and Drake have vastly different careers and different aims

Drake is one of the most commercially successful artists in music history

Kanye is one of the most influential artists in Music history

Kanye’s enjoyed chart success and Drakes had influence

But for the most part you can’t be on Drakes level of commercial success and make groundbreaking left field music that’s gonna change the landscape

And you can’t be in Kanye’s position and have mind boggling chart success

    They both do different things

Let’s appreciate them both for what they are instead of calling them out for what they’re not

    10/10 post

Drake will never make a 4:44 tbh

drake hasn't made anything better then jays best records simply the fact that jay is just better rapper and having Kanye and Neptunes beats are also useful

Kinda would like if he took up that threat to steal a conscious rapper's fanbase and spit some s*** that matters while the world is in hell. It would be nice to have that platform being used for good.

But he's ultra calculated so it would be s*** like "Shout out the homie Biden" and "this pandemic some wack s***"

I think he’s too self aware to ever truly do conscious rap except on some Jay ownership type s***
He knows that’s not his lane and he knows how it would be received

Jay is way better tbh with a cooler background which gives him more to talk about.

If he’s got nothing more to prove why keep making the same s***?

Why not do something different. Something new.

Not focus on making another bubblegum number 1 or gimmicky s***.

He doesn’t have that same s*** Ye and Kendrick have.

    Drake’s not creative anymore

Op, his fans gobble his s*** up. What do you expect? They think more life was culture shifting and ground breaking....

Song ain’t even been out one day yet and you asking why it isn’t shifting the culture...

And then you use Kanye as an example in 2020...

    You niggas need serious help

lol ngl this the truth for Ye especially current Ye but where this man Kenny at

  • Aug 14, 2020

not at this point in his career
its clear he's not out for that by now...
not everything has to be groundbreaking either but a switch up or some experimenting certainly wouldn't hurt

  • Aug 14, 2020

Why in This generation does every single thing have to be a comparison?

  • Aug 14, 2020

idk about groundbreaking but he sure still has juice in him to make enjoyable stuff

    DLDT was great

New single is compeltely bland tho

Drake is soooo f***ing boring right now

He really be doing the bare minimum

    He really peaked already

  • Aug 14, 2020

Thread full of a bunch of b****es crying cause an artist they come on here before brushing their teeth to talk about, isn’t making the music they want.

Stop comparing Kanye, a literal producer to Drake.
