It’s hardcore punk but with more pop sensibilities than their previous work. Shoegaze has like heavy layers of guitars, it’s slower, has hazy vocals. Turnstile doesn’t really do any of that. They’re fast paced and punk and when they are slow it’s still not this heavy wall of sound. You could say their slower songs have a dream pop quality which is like a less heavy version of shoegaze

lot of local hardcore/shoegaze bands in my city rn. Id link but I never remember the names lol. I like stuff like MDOP or prison suicide more, or even just local metalcore like wounded touch, bitter truth, etc. its just what the scene is moving towards, things are new and different. im all for the reinvention tho

Baffled someone is dying on the hill calling that album shoegaze lol. Then said “I know people in the scene” okay, if you did they’d tell you it’s not shoegaze. Hardcore people though will tell you Glow On is kind of a hardcore album but not as heavy especially compared to the past Turnstile albums.
