You right Dre and Puff were the catalysts for the era I’m discussing but at the time they were in a league of their own
In retrospect yea they’re super producers which is why they still put in work throughout the 2000s but again P and Timbaland were making full pop records consistently. They DOMINATED in that space which puts them in a category of their own
Hence why it was called the super producer ERA when they came along, not when Dre and Puff were doing it in the 90s
I see your point, but Puff and Dre were appearing on all videos of the artists they produced for and they were evrywhere in media, Puff specially.
the rapping is forced most of the time, Saturation was ver well received because we didnt kknow the members irl, they turnt out to be ktt nerds and outcasts capping on the mic besides Ameer and they kicked him out
this was insane when I didnt know the members personalities irl
I hated this song at first but it grew on me so hard. Summer 17 man
At the end of the day Tyler has his past music as a roadblock plus his production is Pharrell Jr without having a proven track record of hits like Pharrell to entice more mainstream acts to get beats from him.
niggas calling OZ n wheezy super producers
OZ already fell off in his short run. I always love seeing him on credits but Listening to his old beats like backyard freestyle & comparing it to Greece and life is good i know those simple simple simple, 808/clap/hat/sample beats are the wave and I love a lot of them but they’re not as cool as what he came in on. Wondagurl lost her hard crunchy sound too recently
Probably not because it’s easier to just copy s***
We need a producer who has groundbreaking production techniques and doesn’t share the secret sauce
Anybody bring up Tay Keith or Kenny beats yet?
Neither of them apply so no

2017 was such a great year, still have nostalgia for the SAT era even tho I despise Brockhampton nowadays. The producers and Kevin Abstract (I respect his vision and ambition) should have went on to produce and write for other artists tbh, after they kicked Ameer out they had no business still making rap music.
music is like a loop. the trends that died out often get revived years maybe even decades later. and when that comes along, so do the creators and stars during that time
i have a theory that The Neptunes are going to make a comeback and run the 2020's, just like they did the 2000's.
All it takes is good reception from the Brent song they produced and maybe that will be a greenlight for Chad and Pharrell to work together as a unit again more often than they do and dominate the charts.
Nostalgia does sell

Funny how The Neptunes, 20 years after their golden age, are still getting big placements while Tyler who grew up on them isnt

How Tay Keith was everywhere. Kenny beats is doing his thing with his the cave show

I haven’t listened to RR since I first heard it but I thought it was pretty good. Definitely their best post Ameer. Feel like the hype behind them as a group fizzled out though they lost the rugged edge and consequently all the hype
I don’t think Kenny beats could ever really be a super producer, the man himself said that he makes whatever beat is best for the artist, personal style and flair prolly takes a backseat for him. I respect his dedication to bringing the best out of the artist though, that’s a quality that’s been lost in recent times

Keyword “was”
All tay keith beats sound the same so the novelty wore off
Kenny beats has no sense of style. He’s a guy who’s really good at making type beats
