You’re actually just accenting my point. You can twist my words all you want but what I what I said was white rappers in general have to work harder to get respect and be taken seriously by the industry and their peers.

Which is exactly what Mac did and still has bozos tearing down him and his work because of his frat rap beginnings, despite maturing as an artist and giving back to the genre and people that made him who he was.

NF is currently making terrible music and is extremely popular without hardly any support from the hip hop community. Stop making white people out to be martyrs in this s*** lol

While I’m not in love with anything he put out prior to Macadelic, I probably wouldn’t refer to any of it as dog s*** lol.

I promise there is faaaaaaaaar worse music out there. A lot of the hate he got back then was understandably due to his image.

Not sure how that refutes what I said at all lol

Tom MacDonald is also super popular in their own niche but would anyone respectable take them seriously as rappers?

No disrespect and RIP but I’ve truly never understood why people rave over this dude so hard other than the fact that he made a relative massive leap in quality from being outright terrible to decent. Which that type of development is impressive I guess but I feel like it causes people to herald his later output to be more than it is. I think the celebration of white mediocrity in rap plays into this too otherwise people like Jack Harlow would be trashed on here more than they are

i think you need to walk before you run
that's like saying would bob marley still be acclaimed if he didn't suck when he first started. everyone starts somewhere

His creativity & just the way it sounds, he became a dope artist towards mid to the end of his career. He is also able to do many genres too.

And his beats + collabs he did with some ppl like Vince, Prodigy, Future, Schoolboy, Cool Kids etc. He's a good producer & executive producer, even did some stuff for SZA & Jhene too.

I was not a fan of early Mac Miller tho, i didnt like him till Macadelic.

Macadelic, Faces, his RnB ep i can never remember the name of, Divine Feminine & Good AM are my top 5 of his.

Hms to Live From Space & his instrumental project; Run on Sentences.

Hes talented as a musician all around, n a lot of people today n during the mid to late 2010s have been touched by or got a lot of help from dude too.

Him hanging out with TDE & Odd Future i think made him take art serious, but he was always a "student of the game" before that. He is def througho, & imo good as an artist.

So many careers were able to get off the ground cuz of dude like Vince Staples man.

Him moving to LA n being cool enough to get accepted by OF n TDE hanging out for 2 years was the best thing that ever happened to him. Crazy he was even "cool enough" to be let in by them. That s*** is not nomral for those groups.

Creative n good talent that also didnt just take but also gave.

If he came on the scene with WMWTSO everyone would be like “this is nice” but it would not have been as gassed up if he wasn’t previously making straight up horrible music lol

Anyone who has the opinion of the guy in OP was probably just never tapped in to his music

He would’ve been gassed way more. Watching Movies being your first album/mixtape and introduction to the game would be crazy

Bro this is like half the reason why Mac’s career is lauded the way it is and that’s not a bad thing. You don’t have to be making genre-defining music to have people love your music

    not comparing them as artists
just saying that you shouldn't expect a kid fresh outta high school to be making top tier music. the prodigious artists who do that are the rare exceptions, not the rule. even Pac was probably trash when he first started

But he wasn't all frat rap early on. He said he intentionally made that decision to do it with Best Day Ever and Blue Slide Park. Peep what he had out before that and everything after.

Dude was a boom bap rapper. It's just those two tapes and a couple of songs on Kids that had people thinking differently.

Big L was his GOAT. Preemo was his favorite producer.

It’s fine to like, and again I never said the later stuff was bad, I’m saying it’s overly d*** rided because his early s*** was objectively much worse

I fw Op but that’s probably it. I don’t think he was tapped in like that for Macs run. Probably witnessed it from afar. Like nobody was making music quite like he was during that macadelic and up run. And he was making the beats
