So basically live a civilian life with no d**** or hookers?
Can't be around a lot of the people he knew, can't really be in the metro atlanta area for some time which I think is maybe a positive for his safety anyway if u look at what rappers deal with in their home towns and the situations that got him in jail in the first place
I'm not sure what restrictions the prosecution was able to get onto the terms because the judge said she applied certain things from both the defense and the prosecution, it'd be nice to see the full details of his release in a concise document
“I’m a biologist” = You spent $80k on a bachelor’s and work at AT&T
You should get ur info on the job field from real life instead of Reddit lol
Then like if they didn't want him to go to jail why didn't they just sentence him for 2.5 years and then count the time served
Why would they call it 5 years and then he like well the time served was enough and it wasn't actually 5 years
Because the charges he was pleading to come with a minimum of 5 years so in order to circumnavigate that and commuted his time already served to appear as those 5 years

She prolly thought he wouldn’t be

Oh
So like if he was charged with that he had to get at least 5 years
But they decided that the time he served was enough to count for 5 years?
That's not how time works
Courts r confusing

to be honest im not sure but speculating....
the judge in this case had asked the prosecution/defense about the previous plea deals that were on the table, and the prosecution/defense both stated that the latest one put forth by the state had in fact stated 5 years commuted for time served.
i imagine the prosecutors would want to phrase it like that to make it look like they're not just letting him off the hook completely, that there was a prison sentence involved that probably speaks to the minimum sentences of some of the crimes.
and then the judge i think in this case genuinely took both the defenses side and prosecutors stances into account to basically give the state a partial win by giving them what they had initally proposed... with some major edits that the defense had wanted so that they both walked away reasonably happy
Hopefully he can afford the services of Brian Steele then
After tonight, the price went up for sure
This was a state rico though. Durk got hit by the feds. He done ngl

He was charged with 5 years. The time commuted that he served is now that 5 years. He has technically already done his time.
Usually when cases aren’t felonies, in Georgia, they offer you a 2 for 1. Which is essentially whatever time you serve counts as double.
The equivalent to that at the felony level I guess is this distinction with commuted time served since the 2 for 1 technically doesn’t exist. Maybe it’s a way for the court to still offer that option for people with higher offenses given the prosecutor agrees.

So like the actual 5 years becomes arbitrary
Like it's a 5 year sentence but not actually 5 years in the sense of time necessarily

Congrats btw

I remember when 80k was a good salary

Exactly. You pretty much just have to remove time from this scenario. His court records will still show he was sentenced to 5 years in prison
