"3- Stop the spread of misinformation that is eroding trust in our institutions and fanning the flames of polarization in our society. I will scale up VAT on digital ads to hasten a shift away from ad-driven business models, require disclosures on all ads, regulate bot activity, and regulate algorithms, addressing the grey area between publishers and platforms."
"Algorithms driving recommendations towards conspiracy theory content or other types of disinformation need to be reined in. Same goes for bots, which have exacerbated the situation."
TLDR: LETS THROW OUT OUR FIRST AMENDMENT ENTIRELY. LETS SHUT DOWN ANYTHING THE GOVT DOESNT AGREE W/
"omg, free money. omg chillwave memes. omg hes asian"
gullible yang fans, defend ya man. this is f***ing disgusting
trying to categorize this as 'censoring' the internet is wrong.
it is a horrible idea though that would be easily manipulated by major media outlets and corporations.
imagine thinking click bait fake news and information is primarily being pushed by smaller media outlets and not big ones who would have no problem paying more to continue doing so.

Thats a good point, we should definitely have someone sifting through the news to tell us what the unquestionable, official truth is. Then we wouldn't even have to do any research or critical thinking ourselves! very convenient.
I say we delegate the responsibilities of truth reporting to the CIA. I mean.. its got intelligence in the name, theyve got to know what theyre talking about. no reason for them to lie to the general public.

dis spooky hat tinfoil vibes
yang has some decent policies and i think he's genuine in thinking he's doing what's right (as opposed to many other politicians running who have no real views outside of what corporate interests/establish tell them to do), but he has some downright dumbass policies on his website.
examples;
yang2020.com/policies/votingage - lowering vote age to 16
yang2020.com/policies/move-to-higher-ground - take bikini bottom and push it somewhere else
yang2020.com/policies/local-journalism-fund - additional grants for local journalism (asking for corruption/abuse)
yang2020.com/policies/american-journalism-fellows - somehow wanting to invest in "independent press" but also creating a nationalized pseudo-congressional journalist system?
yang2020.com/policies/modernize-voting - move our voting to the blockchain (yang pls dont fall for this meme)
yang2020.com/policies/media-fragmentation - literally create a task force funded by the government to coordinate with tech companies to universify what "truth" is
yang2020.com/policies/fight-white-nationalism-extremism - acting like the white nationalist groups are not already tracked by intelligence. incredibly vague policy
yang2020.com/policies/algorithmic-trading-fraud - as a tech guy you should know you can't just ban algorithms yang, it doesn't work that way
yang2020.com/policies/minimize-harm-of-modern-tech-on-our-children - "Create a Department of the Attention Economy that focuses specifically on how to responsibly design and use smartphones, social media, gaming, and chat apps. It will include overall guidelines, as well as age-based ones."
yang2020.com/policies/fight-the-spread-of-hateful-ideas - "Work with social media and hosting companies" last thing i want are tech firms working with the government to do f***ing anything that isn't some level of open/fair regulation
yang2020.com/policies/modern-time-banking - literal """optional""" government-funded/tracked social credit based system
yang2020.com/policies/prosperity-grants - asking to be abused
I think this just highlights that the constitution needs to be revisited and adjusted to our modern Digital age. Too many loopholes in the constitution now
That being said, censorship isn’t the solution

the issue isnt really the constitution itself theoretically, its not like it can't be appended, it's that the powers that be in the nation are mix of A. purposefully malignant and B. f***ing ed about technology/anything digital and how it functions. seriously, go watch any of the congressional tech hearings. it's an absolute joke, both congressional democrats and republicans are absolutely blind and clueless

media is 100% controlled by a few powerful people. But right now their strategy is to flood the internet with truth and lies so people can pick their news based on what makes them comfortable and reaffirms their own beliefs.
but at least right now people are aware that what they are reading could be fake. If there was a regulated truth, people may stop questioning what they hear.
Or, who knows. Maybe if everyone was listening and a***yzing the same story we would be more critical as a population and it'd be easier for us to tell when they lie. Im just skeptical of that happening because people already ate up everything they wrote in history textbooks without a second thought. plus, if there is a government-issued truth couldn't there be a penalty for challenging it? Yeah its tinfoil talk, but its possible.
