Sorry forgot to reply to this post. Did you get started on anything in the meantime?
You don't have to necessarily start from seed and can buy ones that are already growing, I would recommend choosing something native to your area tho just because it might be easier to manage conditions
Do you have any outdoor space or are you just planning to grow something small by the window?
Ngl, I meant to start an aerogarden but haven't yet. It's probably best if I start from pregrown fruits & plants and maintain them as a starter. Living in an apartment rn and have north facing window space.

Oh an aerogarden would be sick and they look cool too. Yeah starting with something pregrown can be a nice introduction without too much worry, and in the meantime you could maybe grow something on the window sill as well with some egg cartons from seeds

Just for starting seeds, you'll want to get a proper pot to transfer them later or some other alternative. Basically anything that won't break down from moisture and you're able to drill holes into the bottom will be fine

I honestly haven't considered that but you should be fine with anything unless it's clearly f***ed up somehow, maybe Google might have the answer for this one

just cooked a mean egg drop soup with my own home grown ginger, scallion/green onion and shiitake mushrooms what a feeling
wish I could but living in an apartment makes it too difficult
last summer I planted a few cherry tomatoes and them s***s grew up so high without making a flower, moved them to my auntie's garden and tomatoes magically appeared (I believe it was a space problem)
this year I managed to harvest my very first own loud pack, which I feel VERY PROUD of
good on you, what are you thinking of growing?
Root veg and herbs to start off with.
You grow stuff? What you got?

i have a few local/native plants (australia), green onions, tumeric, ginger and i grow shiitake mushrooms too but that's a whole different process and not necessarily "in the garden"
