Name 10 people you would consider rap fans on here
10? impossible
drake pays homage to his favorite rappers all the time. from FL with love is partially a tribute to lollipop. i know it's different bc it's wayne but he's not the best example
Nigga repped Screw and Wu Tang too. Come on that s*** don't hold up
Eh not really, none of Lupe's music gave me preachy vibes except for maybe F&L2
I feel like that’s the one where he lost the people
There's a time and place for "fast food music", there's just too much of it compared to music that make u go "dam."
The cycle was broken by streaming
There is no more mixtape scene that birthed our generation’s legends
How will the next generation do it without the mixtape scene?

How come? You can’t be a fan of hip-hop as a whole?
Our generation is becoming the old heads that’s all. Happens with every new generation.
People hated rock and roll when it first started popping, thought it was nothing compared to classical or jazz or blues. The rock and roll kids grew up, and hated the punk rock and hip hop that their kids loved.
Hip hop kids grew up and hated the non-lyrical trap/drill/“mumble rap” with some of the artists that we consider legends (young thug, future, Keef etc..)
We’re getting old. Although there is a bit of a lull right now, it’s a transitional period, but something new and interesting will pop up soon

Where’s the longevity in that?

I mean it doesn't hold up that Drake doesn't respect the history
Honestly the one rapper that old heads were wrong for hating on was Uzi cause he can actually rap. And the fact that he makes music that promotes dancing heavily is very traditional of old hip-hop. Dude just dresses and looks goofy sometimes.
But I mean...we did have Shock G/Digital Underground and a song called "The Humpty Dance" at one point. So maybe Uzi ain't that different after all
Uzi and Juice WRLD were the only two artist of this gen that both earned my ear.
Thats because it got to point where any criticism automatically equals "hating". People don't know how to tell the difference between the 2 so the point gets lost.
Where’s the longevity in that?
Doesn't matter and who knows. The way we consume is always changing

People once considered jazz devil music. We just becoming old.
So don't listen to s***ty music
Back then a lot of s***ty redundant music was popular
That's always how it is
how has Drake not paid homage to his predecessors? s***, he literally put out a song interpolating Eminem recently
Damn you got a point, honestly I was just going by what KTT says about him and I always see them calling him a culture vulture. Anymore dope examples of him showing love to the OGs?

he has songs titled wutang forever, god's plan, and diplomatic immunity...

I didn't care much for Juice WRLD's music, but I did give him his respect because of his freestyles. Them s***s were off the dome and he had a genuine talent rapping.
I get he made his music to appeal to a much larger audience, would've liked for him to really rap, but it is what is I let him rock.

End of over my dead body is a classic screw sample
