krishna boundjust in general although yes i think it applies to her. i very much dislike her brand of politics. i see it as highly narcissistic and toxic. i do not disagree with all of her policies but I do not see her furthering a real rightful cause honestly, i think even for the policies i agree with her on she's just further contributing to the problems of our political machine. not to knock on people who like her because I get it, she's a young left wing minority politician, but i strongly believe politicians shouldn't have a cult of personality in a political system like ours which gives massive amounts of immunity and leighway to politicians over actual voters

SOul AMAZINAre you saying this about AOC specifically? Cause she should be praised and spoken of for what's she's achieved, done & said (especially at her age). And although I agree Politics shouldn't have to be involved/portrayed in popular media the way it has been the past few decades she doesn't seem like her passion or significance can be contributed to being "quirky and hip"
Sadly if they weren’t “celebrities” or went on these talk shows then the general public wouldn’t know s*** about them.

Young DI mean, I feel like in terms of AOC you're being turned off by her use of social media to promote her image, which she does very effectively. It's not like she's some big air head who's not talking about real issues and policies.
The reality is that social media is becoming what TV once was (and radio before it). It's different, and there was always pushback and calls of showboating to politicians using new forms of media, but she's not showboating and she's not trying to become a celebrity. She's simply using the new tools at her disposal to promote her message imo.
(Disclaimer: while I think she's using social media very effectively, and I feel like social media is the new form of messaging/promotion/communication for politicians, I personally am deeply disgusted by the effects that social media has had on our society).
This is a pretty good point and you aren't really wrong. This issue is greater than just her and greater than just politics. It's very much a societal issue which her and other politicians are playing into. However, I kind of disagree with what you're saying about her not showboating; it doesn't really seem that way to me. She doesn't old a position which warrants that level of publicity or connection. She's essentially a bureaucratic lawmaker. Like she was doing literal photoshoots and popping into livestreams of e-celebs...that's not really just political promo. But I will definitely agree with you she's just a fulcrum of the system and not the source of it. It's a bigger problem than just her or just politics.
