2 albums out of a loooooong mixtape/album career.

Once again, what is yall definition of "conscious"

If youre going to write tpab and gkmc off as merely "2 albums out of a long career" idk what to tell you he's only dropped 4-5 albums in the first place and theyre clearly his most acclaimed works. Do you really need an explanation of how tpab is conscious? It's a f***ing concept album about race and discrimination

yall putting that "conscious" title on Kendrick and Cole like they biggest hits wasn't some "non-conscious" s*** lol.

Kendrick already said a decade ago on so appalled freestyle don't call him a conscious rapper lol.

The song that pmo to bruh

Niggas been hip from the start

Looks like we need to unpack the term conscious rapper, there's a lot of confusion going on.

Niggas made a thread saying the guy that had a whole album based upon him cheating on his girl is a conscious rapper I'm dead lmfao.

are you going to write off the rest of his work because of that one album?

Are you going to act like OD, KL EP, Section 80, and GKMC don't exist because of that one album?

IF anything you're writing off most of his f***ing work. lol.

Neither do Pac nor Nas have any record that is deeper than any track on this album. Not even the instrumental jazz track.

When yall say conscious, what the f*** are we talking about here?

loved Keep Ya Head Up. But you could've used better choices like Me Against The World, Changes, his verse off The Struggle Continues, Blasphemy, Hold Ya Head, or White Man'z World.

And still none of those is deeper than I'm An African or They Schools or Behind Enemy Lines. As the son of a black panther you'd think pac woulda got deeper on that s*** than some people from florida that studied.

And the thing is for every Keep Ya Head Up, you had a I Get Around, How Do U Want It, etc.

And Nas.....well, we already know from Jay Z about his lovely songs about women.

Once again, when we talk about conscious, what the f*** are we defining it as?

SZA's a superstar, just wait until she drops the record

Her being 30 with only one album out is just not right. She got those eps/mixtapes too but if she should have had 2 more albums out to give her the proper exposure she deserves

Define deeper because I see no artist named that's "deeper" than pac or nas. Explain what the definition of deeper is before I even address that point.

Being a conscious rapper doesn't mean you cant make other records. It's like saying common isn't conscious because he has non-conscious records. Lauryn Hill has non conscious records and you cosigned her.

I don't think age has as much to do with it when it comes to r&b singers, pop stars etc than it does in hip-hop & sports. she's got plenty of time to put out another classic.

if good days is any indication, SZA LP 2 will be incredible.

you said Nas and Pac are the go to conscious rappers in a genre where we had Public Enemy, KRS-One, Dead Prez, and Black Star come out. Trust me when I tell you I am not doing this with you bro lol.

Poor Righteous Teachers, X-Clan, Brand Nubian, The Fugees, etc. Those are conscious rappers.

Nas and Pac told it like it was, but they weren't those kinds of rappers. Nas was very weary of that title.

I consider nas and pac the sons of ice cube where they blended violence with social commentary

  • May 6, 2021

Making boring “conscious” music is easy, it’s making lyrical stuff that is actually of its time that is hard. Same thing as sampling soulful stuff, what’s hard is to make it knock

2pac’s music was of its time, it was hard asf. Kendrick’s is in a way. Cole’s is just uninteresting musically

Lots of the current “hot” rappers have actual lyrical content that’s actually interesting, it just reflects our time. Take future for example and some of his deeper cuts. Feds did a sweep is content wise more interesting than anything cole ever put out

And if that wasnt the case, they wouldn't be the most cited rappers by future rappers. Yes, those 2 are cited more than the rappers you named.

And it's hilarious you say pac and nas arent yet you put krs-one like he doesnt have records that arent conscious...

  • Literally 2 of the 5 most influential rappers ever. Nobody cites pac as an influence cause of his club hits or gangsta rap songs. The same for nas

What poem did kendrick use? A poem about b****es and henny?

  • May 6, 2021

I rather have Future/Travis type music than Joey Bada$$ spitting the same fake woke s*** over dusty boom bap beats in 2021

ngl, for someone who's whole gimmick is that anyone that disagrees with him is white, this is the whitest a***ysis I've ever seen of lyrics from a song you clearly skimmed through.

I wonder why you didn't copy the Stic.man verse right before this?

Like I said, I'm not doing this with you. Especially when most of your hip hop hot takes in general are trash lmfao.
