This lie needs to stop. When it comes to their time and personal life (for example, being angry about an artist not wanting to take pictures with someone) then this saying is correct.

When it comes to music I believe this to be complete bullshit. If an artist is taking the piss with music releases or not even communicating with fans about it then they shouldn’t be defended. I know certain stans will defend an artist saying “they don’t owe you anything” but if not for the people who pay for the music, merchandise, tours and spend a hell of a lot of money then what is the point?

There are artists that don’t release things for years but they don’t keep their fans in the dark.

I just think stannery goes too far sometimes. Maybe it’s a bad take from me but fair you’re entitled to your opinions.

When someone says “no one owes you anything”

You’re not entitled to anything from a person

I could see Drake’s acting comeback in a movie starring alongside Mark Ruffalo where Drake is the long lost younger half black brother

They gotta come together cause the dad just died but there’s tension and they gotta learn to love each other as the story progresses

And? Why would you take the piss with people paying for it?

Not saying it happens often but if you mess around with your main supporters why’d they be inclined to support you? lol

Unless I’m misunderstanding what you’re asking

The fans are gonna listen to your new s*** regardless so it don’t matter lol

  • Oct 19, 2020

    Nah they really don’t imo.

Making the music they’re passionate about and truly want to make is really the only thing they owe the fans imo

    And not scamming with merch

Artists dont owe their fans anything

if you don't want to support, then feel free to stop. Artists have gone through way harder tribulations in their life than the made up expectations some internet nerd places on them.

  • Oct 19, 2020

artists are human, no different to us and their life evolves and changes. let’s just respect that and less of the entitlement

  • Oct 19, 2020

Just cause they don’t owe you anything doesn’t mean you owe them your support or attention, just forget about them. Even in the way you’re saying, no they don’t owe anyone

That doesn’t mean they’re entitled to everyone’s support regardless of what they do but they can do what they want and people can decide if they wanna support or not

Ok I see what you’re saying BUT I don’t get it. If an artist says they’re releasing on a certain day and that day comes and they say nothing whatever for a few weeks isn’t that f***ing around with their fans?

Like it’s certainly more to do with professionalism too

  • Oct 19, 2020

What do artist owe the consumer? The consumer literally does nothing but complain and demand

Even if they say they’re gonna release a certain day, half the time it isn’t up to them and the other half is that they don’t wanna put out something mid.

Professionalism has never actually counted for s*** in artistry

If anything, people like when artists dont give a s***
