Agreed to some degree. Selling merch and a not giving it to people who purchased it, even a year later, and not saying s*** about, it is an example of the artist being scummy.
Labels should force artists to have to release before a certain amount of time
they do lmao
maybe not all but a lot
Artists don’t owe fans anything, the whole point is they make the art they want to make
It's true
stop acting like ur life depends on music being released. you come off very entitled.
They don’t owe y’all s*** f*** y’all
stop acting like ur life depends on music being released. you come off very entitled.
They only owe you respect, just like everybody else
For example, thats one thing Playboi Carti isn’t giving his fans
The only time they do is at concerts. If I pay $100 or more for a concert ticket, you better put on a hell of a show.
Artists truly don’t owe fans anything at all. and honestly if anything, fans overstep the line way too much to the point there should be more of a separation in general
If the argument is “fans make up their fanbase and income” that s*** makes no sense. We’re fans. Supporting someone financially or otherwise doesn’t give you any sort of access, or room to treat them or talk to them differently
in terms of content they put out, no they dont owe you anything, they can put out whatever they want
but i agree, keeping your fans in the dark for years is some bullshit that shouldnt be tolerated
they literally owe you nothing
and you owe it to yourself to not make them that important to your life
I mean technically they dont owe fans anything I guess but without them they wouldnt be where they are at so any self dignified person would try to understand and meet their fans out of respect and thankfulness for their loyalty. Fans are using their hard earned cash and spending time for these artists shows, music, merch & etc. I don't respect any artist who take their fans for granted.
With that said, no that does not give fans a green light to walk all over their favorite artist. Fan and artist connection is a relationship and like any healthy relationship there needs to be respect on both sides
Artists who can’t just give their fans a simple update, or stop all the bullshit are s***ty. Why not just not hype up new music that’s not coming? Or drop based on your word? Nobody owes anybody anything, but why can an artist get away with lying to the people who literally created their lifestyle
This kinda s*** woulda never been able to exist pre internet
They do
you still not explaining why they do? this thread is a disappointment
This lie needs to stop. When it comes to their time and personal life (for example, being angry about an artist not wanting to take pictures with someone) then this saying is correct.
When it comes to music I believe this to be complete bullshit. If an artist is taking the piss with music releases or not even communicating with fans about it then they shouldn’t be defended. I know certain stans will defend an artist saying “they don’t owe you anything” but if not for the people who pay for the music, merchandise, tours and spend a hell of a lot of money then what is the point?
There are artists that don’t release things for years but they don’t keep their fans in the dark.
I just think stannery goes too far sometimes. Maybe it’s a bad take from me but fair you’re entitled to your opinions.
