Has anyone else in the US stopped using seed oils to cook? I've heard conflicting evidence that they cause issues physically/mentally. However it's hard to avoid them.
I usually cook with olive oil or butter so I don't really have this issue. But sometimes if I want to fry up a dish or bake something you can't really substitute seed oils.
there's truth in the fact seed oils are unhealthy but it's more about how they're consumed relative to ultra-processed foods. the trend online of over-hyping seed oil as a single catalyst for obesity just isn't true, especially since seed & vegetable oils are very common in asia without the same obesity correlation.
yup. i mentioned that to her too. unfortunate indeed but it can be done.
its prohibitively expensive for like 80% of people prolly
if u deep frying u may need a higher smoke point
idk if coconut oil has that tho
if u deep frying i assume u kinda just threw caution to the wind on health

I went back to Greece for the first time in over a decade last summer. It was quite honestly mindblowing how much fresher even the basic groceries tasted. I was expecting things to be better, but not THAT better. But the tomatoes fresh from my uncles garden? Fukin beautiful. Nothing like it.
USA produce way more flavorless compared to Mexico too

us vs uk fruit loops
food coloring is definitely unhealthy, but are we really gonna look at s*** like fruit loops and be like "yeah its healthy if it wasnt for the food coloring" if people have an intake so high of stuff like this that it's causing health issues there's a much bigger problem

thats not really what im saying. my point is that like okay let's say we take the food colorings out of fruit loops but we keep americans' diets the same. are people still going to be that much healthier if they're eating fruit loops (or other insert ultra-processed food here) every day regardless?

ya USA food culture is nasty work smh
The EU is turning into socialist dictators they want to put restrictions on everything and force ppl to live in pods
I don't even eat processed food besides very few items that are on the healthier side
Cook your own food, eat vegetables/fruits, drink water and exercise
All this fast food or prepared food is not good for you
An extremely hard diet to follow in the US unless you have money
Where do you cop?
Local Greek import shop, they don't always have it in stock but they sell it affordably. My parents cop in bulk and I drive up to pick it up from them cause I don't got any imported goods where I currently live, and maybe it's just from force of habit but I won't use the supermarket olive oil
