Fair point but bringing songs that otherwise would be vaulted to fans who are really interested in said artist
Yeah but I ain't gonna pay for something like this, I'll just download the tracks from somewhere
IMO if you have music you want people to hear, just drop it, if it can't be released commercially, drop a krakenlink yourself lmao

Yeah all that is true but it in my opinion I see no problem with it if it went to the artist and I really enjoyed their music and don’t mind supporting them.
For a majority of people it is dumb and I get that the concept is kinda pointless when stuff leaks all the time.

I agree, just don't know how sustainable it is to keep something like this going without major support
We are never gonna get back to a place where music consumption is not essentially free
before this music would be on throwaway mixtapes but since mac got sued and streaming it’s been dicey
Exactly the type of s*** that you would have you scrolling for hours trying to find gemd from your favs and throwing away the rest, man those were the good days
Artists really took the "Streaming services are f***ing us so guess what fans we'll f*** you to balance the whole thing" route and some people are legit eating this s*** up
This is really dope and I would support some of my favorite artists in a heartbeat through this or something similar.
But I listen to a lot of music and there's only maybe 5-10 artists I would consider subscribing to, so this would only be successful for artists with cult fanbases like Travis or Nicki

yeah that’s the type of stuff that really makes you connect with guys i feel because you listen to so much of them and you feel like the biggest fan because your favorite song is track 7 from a random mixtape. like j cole dropping those mixtapes before born sinner, atlanta rappers always flooding the streets, drake with the soundcloud loosies, and that’s just established artists. people say that dropping so much dilutes an artists catalog but i think if you’re actually good at music the more the better

SoundCloud era was special for this reason
Everyone was just dropping loosies when they wanted to - I don’t think I remember why that stopped. Popularity of the platform dying or was it label stuff?

Imagine how much money Frank Ocean would make if he just launched this subscription before he even dropped anything on it

What's wrong with paying for someone's value?
If he wants to release it for free cool. If he wants to make a buck off of it then cool.

Same for Odd Future. Their leaks were like grails lol

I do miss that soundcloud era. But it also died with the death of that era of hip-hop as well

It's going to start with unreleased music and it's going to end with fans having to pay multiple artists to listen to the released stuff. It's so obvious that it pains me that you can't see it.
