Yep cause they would have to clear it in order to even sell it.
it doesn't sound like its a formal clearance process like that
it's basically just subscribing to a dropbox of files and then if an artist wants to claim due to a sample they get a cut of the subscription money
i think that's what james blake said

Oh then this could work for lower profile artists then for sure.
Did you see the post someone made about a bill to make a artist fund or whatever
yeah that’s prolly what it was idk
Artists really don't understand their privilege man and it's really starting to bother me (and we all get that they someway somehow getting f***ed in the process).
Imagine walking in a bakery or any other store and someone legit telling you that he's going to sell to you a half baked croissant or anything. What I don't allow someone to do I'm 100% not going to allow someone else that makes a zillion time more money to go with it and pretend that it actually makes sense.
it's like ur a brick wall lol
unreleased ≠unfinished
there's a lot of reasons an artist might keep a song in the vault. a lot of unreleased stuff is fully finished and high-quality but gets shelved for other reasons
the half-baked a***ogy does not work
Lol, so those artists who put they are leftovers under a paywall, are probably thinking that they are Beatles or something.
No, Carti, I don't want to hear your seizures after 2 litres of codeine per 10 dollars a month.
Sorry, James Blake, I don't want to see your "Homework" folder with beats that Kanye rejected.
Speaking on topic of, for example, Kanye being on this service, I still probably won't pay for this, it's like now they try to sell the whole chicken to you if you catch my drift.
Part of making music is quality control.
ur doing too much bro no need to hate like this
right so how is that different than putting a song on apple music without clearing it
ur being obtuse fam obviously the james blake thing would have a WAY smaller userbase than apple music
fr i think niggas just forget that most artists ain’t livin these lavish lifestyles. in fact in america in particular it seems like folks just have utter distaste for artists in general of all disciplines
”folks just have utter distaste for artists in general of all disciplines” the humanities in general honestly
should be it’s own thread

that’s irrelevant though, you’re making money off the music, you need to make sure everything is properly done

should be it’s own thread
you make that thread and ill be in them replies backing that 100% brother
hypothetically though this actually is “releasing them to the public” even for money so… if the track is a collab then the artist you’re subscribed to would basically have to ask permission from collaborators and maybe split the subscription somehow? idk there are for sure holes in this vault thing
I mean let’s not act like producers aren’t reliant on their major label artist relationships. Like if metro were to sue future or thug for something like this would tarnish his career. That one guy kept pressing that issue and historically hip hop producers get hoed by the artist I just don’t see a world where a producer sues an artist for this and not receive backlash it wouldn’t be worth the damage to their brand.
Got hip to this through Jonwayne and it looks like a great solution.
this is cool but it’s for an entirely different issue than what this thread deals with no?

uh cool but none of this really applies to what i said. even if a subset of people wouldn’t press the issue many others would. also i think you’re wrong if you think producers won’t do something if their s*** is being used without a cut, im not saying they’ll go directly to suing but that s*** is blatantly illegal it’s not even about relationships at that point. im assuming the service has ways to alleviate this though at least i’d hope

I just had to get that point off what u said I prior I have no qualms against seems like common practice. Yeah an established producer get some kind of royalty but mid level to unknowns likely getting paid a one time fee I mean this is hip hop we’re talking about you’ll be known as a snitch and we see how that plays out.

Same issue actually.
