i’m getting into count of monte cristo rn and i think i found my hack for getting back into books: index card summaries. i actually really enjoy doing it!
i dropped it because i felt like i would’ve understood the more subtler moments involving Huck early on if i had read the OG book. but from what i read, i loved it!
I read Huckleberry Finn right before to give me better context and while it did help put things in perspective, I don't think it's necessary for James. knowing the general story is enough
pick it back up when you get a chance, the last third of the book especially is beautifully done

oh yeah i will pick it back up fs. glad to know that it’s not entirely necessary to read Huck Finn
So I hit my goal of 12 books this year but I’m currently reading One Hundred Years of Solitude… hoping to end the year with this one. About 30% of the way through it and it’s quite a lot to take in so far
Y’all get any new books for the holidays?!
My gf got me the Mistborn trilogy
that’s so awesome! I got the first edition version of IT to read for the new year! So pumped!

Song of Solomon was so special
can understand why people recommend Beloved or The Bluest Eye instead but SoS was so powerful and well done. definitely hit me more than her other books I've read. look forward to seeing your thoughts on it bro
that reminds me I gotta bump that reading goals thread...

I've read The Bluest Eye and Sula so i'm already knowing of the power of Morrison! but yes my girl has told that Song of Solomon is really really special so I'm excited to read it.
I've heard mixed things about Beloved so i'm not in a rush for that one lol
Where do you guys keep your books? I'm looking to buy a bookcase or bookshelf. Send pics pls 🙏🏼
