speaking to the tired rap is dead topic that yall wore to death this year, it’s like yall need to be spoon fed everything and can’t actively look for s*** (and that’s ironic considering we’re on a niche music forum).
yeah, mainstream rap didn’t have the best year, but that doesn’t stop you from looking for quality in other music genres. s/o to @proper, @safe, @Cole2, @insertcoolnamehere and others for actually trying to put people on to some quality different s*** and not making the same ol bs threads for the 100th billionth time.
as for the monoculture is dead s***, look i get that yall just learned that word this year and are doing the usual “wear a new word to death and then never speak of it again” s***, but even if monoculture really is dead (and it isn’t judging by barbenheimer, the gta 6 trailer, and i hate to say it but morgan wallen too) THERE IS NO NEED TO F***ING SAY IT EVERY OTHER THREAD ON TOPICS THAT ISNT EVEN RELATED JESUS F***ING CHRIST.
so imma pray that yall never use those phases again after this year. amen 🙏🏾
informative
oh great yeah imma the word of a mustache wearing c***named patrick cc that rap is dead because algorithm bad and also called the soundcloud rapper era the last great rap era. never put him in my threads again
It started when Billboard themselves highlighted a notable decline in sales and charting success.
Obviously, underground/Indie rap will always pull its weight when it comes to quality hip hop and I ironically get called a hipster sometimes for pointing that out.
But, if mainstream rap is starting to lack in both quality and commercial success, that's actually not a good sign for the genre.
That's the main reason why Juicy J and Ebro sounded off the alarms.
Hell, even KTT's fave, Lil Yachty, basically said that hip hop fell off and ya'll d***rode him for saying something that would be considered "dusty" and "out of touch" if Joe Budden said the same exact thing.

if anything the main reason why rap culture is dead is because yall let cacs like nfr and adam the rapist 22 become the primary tastemakers in rap

What do you think about KTT2's fave, Lil Yachty, saying what he said about the state of hip hop today.
monoculture being dead is true though. but the "rap is dead" s*** isn't and has made this sxn unusable tbh
Didn’t know the word monoculture until this thread op. Thanks imma start saying that now

he’s just going through his “ i listen to more than just rap, im a deep music listener have you even heard of pink floyd?” phase about 10 years late so idc what he has to say
Please. Find something you like and make new memories to it. Stop comparing it to music you’ve already made memories to

They started pushing a narrative. It’s the big heads of industry that did this s***. I take it as they have sucked a lot of profits out of rap culture and are now angling to ramp up another revenue stream, country music.
pairing morgan wallen as equivalent to barbie and gta 6 lmao give me a f***ing break
I'm just disappointed that more rappers didn't care about hip hop's 50th anniversary or at least that's what it felt like anyway

How was no rap album going number 1 on the Billboard until June "pushing a narrative?" They were just pointing out a statistical fact.
And, while Ebro can be a clown, I don't see any reason for him to lie about more labels wanting to invest in Afrobeat and Reggaeton over rap due to a decline in superstars.
Juicy J was dead serious too and even wanted to have a meeting to address the sharp decline in rap sales to see how to keep growing the genre.
Because of the underground and Indie scene, hip hop will never be outright bad imho but even Stevie Wonder can see that mainstream rap atm isn't that sustainable.
there’s an entire generational barrier along with micro communities online instead of just local communities, just cause you hate hearing people say monoculture doesn’t mean it’s not a factor lmaoo

You are grossly underestimating the power of media. Juicy J and Yachty are reacting to media stories and narratives. If those tweets don’t get made, the rappers wouldn’t have reacted that way. Most people are reactionary as hell
nah, the genre is cooked and lots of y’all are responsible for it being cooked too
it’s all good though we are moving to pop

ngl pop ain't doing that much good either
but it depends what you're viewing as pop like an umbrella term or not
Why not post about these new artists and make those type of threads then? Instead of making the exact kind of thread you’re complaining about that’s just more of this discussion for the 1000th time

and Tyla's gonna be the leader of the Afrobeats era
