Thank you thank you! I quit cause it felt right and while I have money, I need to use this time to fully springboard myself. I also have done this long enough that I know I can't just go all in every hour making a youtube video or else i'll be miserable.
The thing with tik tok is anytime you guide traffic off site it cuts your views down because they don't want people redirecting and it cuts your views down account wide because all metrics are tired. So I don't wanna over promote it because that's my main platform
I think you do better on Tiktok cause ya content more accessible and relatable over there, I remember back when you posted that video over in the fashion sxn it was a good watch but it was also very dense
I dont watch tik tok but i really dont think its much to do with being good looking. Another example would be the h3h3 guy who is fat also
Who?
bruh is there even a way to monetize tik tok vids? if not you need to find some sort of sponsorship or start a podcast with a patreon link
otherwise all your getting is social clout and being deprived of rightful revenue

between two and four cents per 1,000 views. About what musicians on spotify make
I feel like u should figure out ways to cut down on that turnaround. Im not a video editor but a month is a long ass time.
It's just what it is I try to be as quick as possible with it of course!
It's just the nature of video essays too though, I like being well researched I don't want to come across like I don't know what I'm talking about and it's important to have evidence to back it up. Especially if I'm making higher concept thesis projects like the disney video
I think part of it too is my macbook might just be getting old, but a lot of it really is green screening, editing audio, editing clips, overlays. All that stuff takes time the quickest turn around I've seen was the Halo video which only took like maybe 1 week from start to finish but I also think it's the last argumentative.
Like my current 3 videos I'm work on are all gonna need that level of work.

Also found this: "On average, a creator with half a million followers or views can earn up to $450 a month."

Well the thing is I watch dense youtube videos, there's a market for it and that's what I'm asking, like why is it so up hill for me rn? Like people are out here making 8 hour videos and s***, like I said my upload rate is about on par for most of video essay youtube, i've seen entire years go by between uploads.

Leafy-style reaction videos from 2015ish when edgy humor was really big
Stick to a coherent theme and your thumbnails need a uniform design throughout to pique interest
Bru only has 10 videos expects to be a YouTube star

No hate but dude has 10 videos and 157k
Like idk maybe I'm not picking the right topics who knows? But also half a Million on video about veggie tales?
Nah cause never have I heard of anyone spending money on ads to get more youtube views, that sounds insane

Maybe it's because I've gotten so used to the idea of the whole "like, comment, subscribe & share" mindset that YouTube has pushed on its creators for years, but I just find it so odd how Tik Tok goes out of its way to promote doing the exact opposite. Which probably also could explain why most Tik Tok-ers can't seem to cross-platform.
Unlike YouTube, that pretty much strive off of your mom sharing a clip of Cardi B doing carpool karaoke with James Cordon on Facebook. It almost feels like Tik Tok deliberately wants to take away any kind of leverage that the content creator has and make it so that you can ONLY make a living on THEIR platform.
And in that regard, you feeling like it might be race related might not be that much of a reach. Because the only kind of creators that this doesn't seem to effect are (for lack of better phrasing) "regular celebrities" (think like Will Smith or Gordon Ramsay), or super popular Tik Tok stars with a mega following... The vast majority of which are white.

Honestly idk, you might need to overhaul your style, your talking points are solid and you’ve already proven that you likeable over on Tiktok, but I have no idea what’s holding you back if y’all output is the same
No this is good, expand, cause I get a lot of my influence from Jakey and like maybe some old school AVGN type videos.
I clearly want to create something more personality driven and light hearted, I hate videos that just feel like long droning reads of wikipedia articles
I get you on the wiki thing
IMO the cuts are a little too frantic, when it goes from one size to another and sometimes there's a picture or scene going on its very hard to concentrate on whatever you're talking about and almost becomes background chatter. Especially if you're in the frame while a clip is playing, like where should I be concentrating?
Having your face in there is fine but you gotta stop editing it so often. The aesthetic you're going for is already pretty jarring, I don't need you going from just the corner to the whole frame so often, for example between 9 to 10 mins in the Halloween video you switch it up like four times.
I think you might just need to let some scenes play out and make sure it's directly correlated to the point you're making. Your point about Mike doing the same thing for 40 years could've been made more effective by actually just showing that.
