95% of the crowd was w him, he’s just too insecure to handle the other 5.
It's amazing he didn't realize a long time ago the solution was just dropping multiple albums a year each with different "styles". RnB, Rap, Club/Trap, etc.
It's a shame bc he the only one who could really eat with this style of music release aside from maybe Ye or Wayne
Scorpion was already two 10 track albums basically and it got panned despite being great
You just can’t win sometimes
bc a lot of it was filler lol
seems like he had a strong regular drake album and put a bunch of weaker rap and rnb cuts to finally make that rap/rnb double album lol
Short album >>>>
A long album featuring different styles ends up being a mess trying to please everyone.
At some point in the past few years Drake started to view his albums as a group of songs he crafted for fans. The reason why NWTS was so special is you can tell he wanted to make the music he really wanted to make and the fans gravitated to it. He didn’t view that project as this checkbox of different things he has to include to satisfy the fans of his that like all his different styles. Scorpion/Views were long albums but there wasn’t any other artistic reason for that other than that his fans expect so many different genres of music that he had to include

In saying...
Dude spreading himself thin
I love drake r&b but im not bout to sit thru a 1h30min album for 3 r&b tracks, and a collection of other tracks from other genres

He doesn’t mind cause he’s getting the streaming numbers still. I wish he’d focus on the artistic integrity side of things and make music for the art sake instead of the bloated albums for the money

Yea absolutely, its gonna be a huge blow to his legacy. Which is sad cause he should have at least 4 indisputable classic projects at this point...

Ill be honest that’s one of the reasons why he’s probably going down as a hit maker instead of someone that’s a high level artist (which isn’t a bad thing in my opinion). He told us in the rap radar interview that when he makes an album he tries to put his earlier songs in the place of the new ones and clash them. That’s how you know it’s not about making good bodies of work anymore. It’s about making individual songs that chart
We get a Drake album like every two years so i’ll take as much as I can get dawg

How do you know what his mindset was when he approached recording NWTS? Y’all love to talk like Drake personally gave you the dial down on his approach. Just say you prefer NWTS over Views/Scorpion and stop putting extra sauce on it to sound like you know what went into putting the albums together.
Shorter albums will always be better. Scorpion was like 10 tracks too long even for a double album.
Drake’s view on this is his downfall to dropping a critically acclaimed classic probably. Kendrick def alienated people with TPAB but it was received well over.
If drake dropped a concise 10 track rap only album or rnb it would probably be heralded as his best work ever. But Drake makes the albums he wants to make and it’s what’s best for his fan base so you can’t really be mad. At this point it wouldn’t be a Drake album if it didn’t have a bit of everything on there IMO.
Think of how Future dropped HNDRXX and how well received it was. Drake doesn’t give af tho and rightfully so. its his art

Honestly to me people are gonna like whatever Future drops regardless of how long it is lmao
If Drake really drops another 20+ track album this man is a confirmed terrorist
Enough is enough
*16 songs is the best sweet spot imo. Enough songs to try different things but not too much where going through the album starts to feel like a chore.
this.

His dancehall songs definitely don’t belong on the same album as his rap songs. Tf was Drizzy thinking?
