maybe its just me, but isnt it weird that the words Good vs. Evil look alot like God vs. Devil
I generally agree with your posts but all Holy Books have some truly outlandish stuff that shouldn’t be taken out of the context of its respective time period bro. Some of the verses seem... “WTF?” But only when taken OUT of context from the time period it was said in, + under which situation. You shouldn’t deny that it wasn’t said though. And I say this as a proud believer in God.
I can’t deny this, there are definitely some strange verses. Nonetheless I’ll keep my faith because father knows what’s best for me
anyone dead set on hating religion is a red flag
This too, idrc.
I'm not gonna be the atheist in every high school classroom telling kids how their religion is all falsehoods.
Seems kind of idk, f***ed up.
Plus I like reading religious text, they're fun
So no weird atheist or weird religious people in the dating list

As you should king, never let people bully you out of your faith.
Religion is actually far more historically evidenced than some atheists think. When you begin to study the lineage of prophets from Adam’s children to Abraham’s children (and the split of Isaac & Ishmael that caused the 3 Abrahamic religions to form), it’s TOO interesting.
These people were touched by another being altogether. Divine intervention not being true is impossible.
The time period that OT takes place in is a time where sexism is a social norm. Has nothing to do with biblical faith. Recognizing gender roles and the differences between the two genders is not sexist. Nowhere in the Bible does it tell us to discriminate against women
I Peter 3:1
I Timothy 2:11-15
Colossians 3:18
Ephesians 5:22-24
I Corinthians 11:6-10
god assigning men and women different roles has always been a major justification for the discrimination of women, as women are the bearers of the original sin. why are women not allowed to be pastors if men and women are seen as equal? why does female creation of life make her unclean, even in the birth of the messiah?
and regardless, even if the sexism throughout the bible has nothing to do with biblical faith, its existence within the holy texts is used as justification for the continued subordination of women throughout the world. the submission of women is not innate nor apolitical.
Yeah imagine taking the words from goat herders who lived over a thousand years ago literal.
its funny because i think the opposite, if you believe this is all nothing and were just a mistake then thats a red flag
only if they use religion as an excuse to be ignorant (but moderate religious people do that as well)
otherwise idrc as long as they don't force their beliefs on others

It is true that Eve was deceived into taking the fruit, but Adam was just as wrong to take it as well. The purity laws are something I’m still having trouble fully understanding, so I won’t even try to explain that. From what I understand though, women are not permanently impure from birth. It’s temporary. Women are not pastors because it is not their role to be in biblical law. Both men and women were created for different roles, but they’re equal in sin. This is simply word of God. Women are told to be submissive to their husband in the same way we are submissive to God. This doesn’t mean that women can never question their husband, have their own opinions, leave the house, etc. it is simply following the will of your husband in the same way he should follow the will of God.
People throughout history have always been hypocrites and obfuscated the law of God. Those people’s wrongdoing and ignorance do not invalidate the word. A lot of criticisms are really aimed at hypocrites who claim to be following the word, but are really using it to justify bigoted beliefs. There’s nothing I can do about that except to be a better example than the hypocrites.
Yeah imagine taking the words from goat herders who lived over a thousand years ago literal.
Moses: A literal prince of Egypt.
David, Solomon & Saul: Literal kings of Ancient Palestine-Israel.
Joseph: A vizier of the Pharaoh in Egypt.
Aaron: Also a vizier.
Muhammad: A lawmaker, military general & unified leader of Saudi Arabia.
And guess what? They were all part-time sheep herders at some point in their life too!
anyone dead set on hating religion is a red flag
100%. People that didn't grow out of their 12 year old atheist phase
anyone dead set on hating religion is a red flag
Yes. These are the other side of the coin
I think ppl should take the good & leave the bad. Recognize the bible is a edited down & rearrangement of texts used to control the narrative for ignorant ppl.
There’s a story there in the texts the Bible is referencing..but keep in mind the Bibles were printed during the start of the Inquisition by the Catholics/christians.
The original scriptures were intentionally edited by the monarchs & clergy of the time to get everyone on 1 accord (new paradigm) & to easily identify & then eliminate the “undesirables” who they couldn’t control ( “heretics”, “pagans” )
Where is sexism and racism in the Bible. Don’t bring up the slavery verse because biblical slavery is vastly different from the slavery we know today. And the Bible never ONCE says to no respect and love gays and minorities. It’s time to stop peddling this bs
Don't want to start a large conversation but you're wrong. The bible reinfoces the idea that men are inherently above women. I'm not referring to the examples but the teachings of the bible, a google search could pull context.
You could ofc chalk this up to the era and specifically the bias of the translators etc but then that would also call into question the authenticity of the word of god, no?
Racism, not that I recall
I have read the bible yes.
i think red flags arise in two situations
People taking the moral and emotional context that religion exists in and apply it to a physical context and disregard science and objective study
People take part in religious supremacy and fail to understand they they are in the exact same position as a multitude of other ppl
