Yup it feels like a shift is coming

Now is the time to do it too.

Drake is about to be 40 years old.

A 40 year old running hip hop don't make no damn sense.

NLU just sped up the inevitable

How old is ye? How many when was his last number one album?

Drake and Kendrick are like how the nba has a problem with ratings while Steph and LeBron’s careers come to the tail end.

They’re still probably the two biggest stars in the game but the interest in the genre/sport isn’t the same from a commercial standpoint maybe as it was in their heyday and there isn’t another prototype challenging to replace what either of them bring from a purely commercial/consumer point of view.

So no, Drake is still going to be a dominant entity in hip-hop until there’s another person who that fan base can buy into with the same intrigue.

    never made that connection damn

    get curry some help

Drake, one of the best selling artists in the history and the most streamed rapper in the world in 2024 needed Sexy Redd, the artist who sold 27K first week a few months ago?

What's your next cope and excuse?

Y’all love to do this lmao

Can you tell me why Drake can’t drop a solo hit? The biggest songs from his last 3 projects had features

Is there a reason the tracks with Yeat, SZA, Sexy Redd and Cole are the most popular from FATD or is it just a coincidence?

the last time you could make a serious argument that he was one of the main guys in rap was TLOP when he was ~40

Drake will come back bigger than ever. The game misses Drake. Midrick can’t run hip hop. He doesn’t have the ability. I mean he got to his career peak via gimmicks and beef and scheming.. he had decades to beat Drake and the only way he could do it was through beef. Guy should be ashamed.

    no

A lot of these posts are just wishful thinking.

Why doesn't it make sense when he's the only one that's constantly dropping hits?

His age is a non factor. If there is no replacement at the very top, it has to be him.

He may need to take a break. He released 20+ songs and features over the summer. all flopped

    20+?

    U My Everything
Wah Gwan Delilah (parody so doesn’t really count)
    Hot Uptown
    Uuugly
    Sideways
    Healing
    It’s Up
Blue Green Red (now deleted off streaming)
    Housekeeping Knows
    Circadian Rhythm
    SOD (not released on streaming)
    No Face

That’s 12 songs. All of the 100 Gigs songs weren’t released through DSPs immediately but still performed decently on the charts.

Just realized too. He is at the age where he is suppose to be building more artist up.

Jay-Z was in suit and ties and being CEO of Def Jam even at a younger age than were Drake is now. Ye had GOOD music. Wayne had YMCMB.

His selfishness is coming back to bite him. Seems like the game is literally forcing him to grow up.

He don't even need to call it a career but time to be a Grown man and move on to the next phase of his career.

I think the OVO-Weeknd situation has made him harbor resentment for putting on talented artists. Which is why he hasn’t chosen a successor

I forgot where, but either Drake or someone said that it's hard to develop and push another rapper to the top when you're still in the mix of gunning for that top spot yourself. Which is why what Wayne did for Drake, Nicki, and Tyga was so rare.

It is but it takes having an eye for talent and putting your ego aside to push a new artist forward as your successor

I think Drake’s ego won’t allow him to give up his crown hence the Kendrick beef
