The nautre of reality doesnt work like that brother man
Music didnt stop wtih Micheal Jackson, The beetles, Elvis. etc.
It keeps on trucking forward.
THere will be people to surpass Drake, and they are clearly on the way. The Market is damn near naturally forcing this outcome.
I been hearing this for about 8 years now the fact of the matter is the artist who coulda challenged for his spot are deceased . His only other comp are the same niggas from the 2010s and he has a bigger fanbase than all of them.
@edumist has seen me try to tell folks that the younger generation are gravitating towards newer rap acts as opposed to Obama-era administration ones and the cope from some of these mfs was insane lol
Elemental and friends download their personality off of here so it’s in their best interest to act like everyone is still stuck on Drake lmao
ironically enough Kanye had better crossover than Drizzle did without any of the shameless streamer pandering but that’ll be a conversation for another time
Nah. It was Donda.
That album was a return to form, sparked a big wave, did impressive numbers, was nominated for AOTY, brought life back to this forum when it was slowly dying in early 2021, gave us the Larry Hoover concert, etc.
Donda is by no means a top tier album but I still to this day believe its biggest crime was being sandwiched in between the WOAT eras for Ye including the 2018-2020 and late 2022-2024 eras.
If it dropped in another era not overshadowed by negativity, niggas would rate it on the level of TLOP.
he had the world in the palm of his hands during that era
proved he still had the juice

So clearly the rapper who is gonna take Drake's spot hasnt rose to prominence yet
There was no indication or sign at all that Drake was about to takeover back in 08 when Young Jeezy and Ti were going platnium off The Recession and Paper Trail

Yep. People are rewriting history for Donda on here cause it dropped in an awkward time in between the "Slavery was a choice" era and the "I like Hitler" era.
In many ways, the Donda era has slowly become a forgetten relic from former Ye stans who just lump the entire post-TLOP eras of Kanye together due to all the bad publicity and some poor albums like JIK and Vultures 2.
But the Donda vs CLB s*** literally revived this forum back in 2021 and Kanye was getting glazed as much if not more than Kendrick in 2024 on here.
You had constant Kanye appreciation threads, people debating what the best songs on Donda were, people hoping it'd win AOTY, Kanye's Drink Champs interview getting dissected, and topping off the year with the Larry Hoover concert which was praised like crazy on here.
As I mentioned, if Donda wasn't sandwiched in between the lowest points in Ye's career/life, it'd be lumped in with the first 7 albums easily. When people say "TLOP was his last good album", I think what they subtley mean was that TLOP was the last album Kanye dropped before he became a truly bipolar trainwreck who flip flopped between being likeable/dope and being a washed edgelord. If the Donda era lasted longer or had a proper tour associated with it, I feel it'd get more props on here.

Yeah I probably have a blind spot for Donda because of what he was in the middle of and also that was still covid so even with it being successful nothing felt real or tangible anyway
I dont like that album much but its actually his last moment
Man was calling himself bigger than Michael Jackson off payola and boosted streams
This waffle colored half-nigga truly shameless
lets be real the world wants to hear how a drake album gonna sound like in the aftermath of this beef. whenever he drops the numbers will be big and if the music is good he will continue to dominate

I haven't had interest in a Drake album in almost ten years. Why would it be any different now that he embarrassingly lost yet another beef?
We already heard how an album from Drake sounds after getting embarrassed by Pusha T and it was the same old uninspired s*** he been making. Why do y'all believe it'll be any different now lmao

But the point was.. scorpion was massive. If you felt that way ten years ago and nothing changed then? What makes anyone think anything is changing this time?
He's the most streamed cuz he has a f*** ton of songs on streaming.
And this whole idea that one rapper needs to carry the torch is exactly why people got tired of him and why the rap game is in the state that it's in now
There should never be "one guy" running a whole decade that's not what hip-hop is

Scorpion for all it's faults still had hits that catered to the women and was made when he didn't alienate a lot of black women with the s*** he's on now.
Bro is about to do a stream with Adin Ross

False equivalence. Future's not the pop star that Drake is stop removing context to make a point lol
