true i'd agree when my city was in lockdown I was loving WFH but after a while it lost its novelty and I needed socialisation. Depends on the people you work with for sure
Agreed. I think because we do work for so much of our day, week, Month & therefore life, it's a real miss to not have real socialising in those hours
Also doesn't help being bombarded with virtual/video interaction in an attempt to emulate the real thing
Rather work in the office than the home
I only live 3 miles from work though. I can see people with terrible commutes wanting to keep working from home.
Lets compromise
Have a hybrid method
3 days in office
2 days at home

see i don’t care about socializing so i’m loving the wfh s*** still lol
but i’m more introverted at work. i don’t like to get too personal with people there. i have people i talk to, but i’m more the type who likes to eat lunch in the car or alone so i can relax and watch videos or something. hate eating around people and making conversation lol

this is what i would be ok with
WFM monday and friday
tues, wed, thurs in the office
if my job makes us go back in full time i’m looking for something else lol
my job announced their plan yesterday and we're doing a hybrid model
anything classified i gotta come in tho
its insane how little money I used to spend when I was working at home. it had a lot to do with lockdowns but Ive been spending a third of what Im spending right now for at least three months
that said I love my commute which is a 35-40 min walk. keeps me active bc I usually sit at a desk for 8 hours and run once a week
Lets compromise

Needs to be flexible too as one size won’t fit all
see i don’t care about socializing so i’m loving the wfh s*** still lol

i'm the same lol there's a middle aged dude that talked to me once and I made the mistake of being nice to him, so now everytime I have lunch he comes and sits at my table and tries to talk to me about work and figures and s***...come on bro this is my 30 min me time inbetween the days stressful bs i'm tryna swipe hoes on tinder lmao
It's case by case but recent reporting has shown the opposite
But the problem is they haven't factored in WFH as a methodology hasn't had time to be perfected: we were thrown into it & no one has really focused on maximising it
When I started WFH in March I was taking more calls, more meetings & working later - so obviously it was tough. But we're in a much better position now & this needs to be reflected in the literature. Companies now have WFH policies & HR Managers are trained in managing remote employees using technology
It's ironically too early to be sending people back to the office IMO this is not an "experiment" - people want & prefer this
Anyway I'll post more reports
interesting, are there specific reasons why productivity has fallen?
also just looking at the PWC report you posted, I kinda take issue with comparing WFH as it is now to WFH from 2012-2017 when it definitely wasn't the norm. I feel like if the majority of workers were WFH, we wouldn't see these kind's of disparities in bonuses. but that's just my unscientific opinion.
the only thing I do agree with is unpaid overtime. it's much easier to take work home with you when you're actually at home. but that makes me question the productivity argument as well.
Did you see the "Would you rather get a 21K pay rise or WFH indefinitely?" debate?
https://www.linkedin.com/news/story/30k-raise-or-work-from-home-5059540/
for me 21k means I would be able to move out and live by myself....or save crazy. SO I would take it.
however, if I was making more (lets say higher five figures/ lower six figures), or if I was living with a GF/wife to split up some stuff, I wouldn't consider going back to the office.

SAME
good for them. i’d consider doing the same if my company tell us to go back to the office full time. you must be crazy
civil engineering firm. design based via laptops and monitors, so working from home has worked well over the last year and a half

No reason to be at the office more than at home unless you have alot of meetings. Meetings are primarily the thing which work way better at the office.
yeah not gonna lie. i’ve been real happy working from home this past year and a half
if my company forces us to go back in full time i may start looking for another company that continues to offer WFH
however, if they only make us come in a few days a week that wouldn’t be the end of the world
as long as i never have to go in the office for a full 5 days ever again i’m good
3 days at home and 2 days in the office has been the perfect balance for me IMO
A lot of people in my field have quit (human services/social work). Low wages and workload just don't add up. My supervisor keeps asking me do I want to add another client to my case and every meeting I say no, lol.
COVID made people realize that a lot of things aren't necessary.
It also required public bathrooms to be clean: and reminded people to wash their f***ing hands. Covering mouth when coughint aswell

less days would ensure less meetings as oftentimes those take a look of time but only a handful makes an impact
