Let's not forget this banger of a closer
Imagine if he replaced the weaker tracks for with the ones on deluxe edition, we as americans, love u more etc. + Bully and When I'm gone
Still love how this album is essentially a satirical self aware mess, there's a charm to it and representative of Em's mindset at the time
f*** money i don’t rap for dead presidents i’d rather see the president dead. it’s never been said but i set precedents
The only encore song I hype up like that
Such a nothing song. Sounds like a detox leftover. Should have been a mixtape song
Have you read that article/interview when he says stimulate was supposed to be the orginal intro …. I think it came out sept 14 or 18th 2022
He never said stimulate was supposed to be the intro.
You are talking about the XXL interview where he says the first three tracks would have been:
1. We As Americans
2. Bully
3. Evil Deeds
Such a nothing song. Sounds like a detox leftover. Should have been a mixtape song
Quite literally a detox leftover. And yeah it’s built a lot like the song I’m Gone with Obie Trice from the same time that appeared on that Kay Slay mixtape
Such a nothing song. Sounds like a detox leftover. Should have been a mixtape song
Should have but that speaks abt what I think abt encore
thread is bait but im bored and have seen some people with this actual opinion so i'll bite.
A good portion of this album just sounds weird and its clear em is just freestyling a lot of this s***, down to rapping about what parts of the song he is on (eg rapping about being on the bridge/breakdown of the song or just rapping about how this is the second verse) on some level listening through its somewhat impressive but on the other hand its complete dribble and u walk away thinking or feeling nothing. The humour isn't there, the commentary of pop culture isn't. its just unfunny off the top rapping. Its a man that's mastered his craft but is wiping his ass with it. this goes for a majority of that middle section (from Puke to Ass Like That).
Then you have Like Toy Soldiers & Crazy In Love that have two of the corniest sample flips evers. Nobody but em gets a pass for a hip-hop song with these sample flips. in fact its these corny ass pop hooks is what made people hate a majority of revival. I'd say here its worse because there so lazy. the repetive drummer boy ass drum loop on toy soldiers runs its course quicky and that little millisecond sample that runs through the entire song of crazy in love is awful. such a bad flip.
Then you have the songs that are okay but could have been better. Mosh is cool but he did these type of songs better on the Eminem show, Spend some time is okay although is this really the posse cut song? all seems like there on different levels. A solo em would have done this song justice. One Shot 2 Shot, shoulda been on a D12 album. concept runs tired by the last verse let alone it being one of the final songs on the album. Mockingbird verses are cool but that hook is bad. its just bad. no one besides em gets a pass for such a corny ass hook.
Then the straight Mid. the song Encore. pointless. waste of a dre and 50 collab song. this was meant to be heard live and they never did it together. Never Enough. Nothing sticks out about it. decent em verse, forgettable nate hook and 50 verse. song has no intro or outro. just comes and goes. Yellow Brick Road feels off. Not sure if its the first verse dragging out a bit but not the worst one here. Evil Deeds is just mid. nothing else to say.
Hard to find positives on this album.

If you want a much better Encore tracklist that kind of mirrors the structure of The Eminem Show:
1. Curtains Up (Skit)
2. We As Americans
3. Bully
4. Evil Deeds
5. Mosh
6. Paul (skit)
7. Yellow Brick Road
8. Crazy in Love
9. Spend Some Time (feat. 50 Cent & Obie Trice)^
10. Just Lose It
11. Em Calls Paul (skit)
12. Like Toy Soldiers
13. Love You More
14. Mockingbird
15. Final Thought (skit)
16. One Shot 2 Shot (feat. D12)
17. Encore (feat. 50 Cent & Dr. Dre)
18. Never Enough (feat. 50 Cent & Nate Dogg)
19. When I'm Gone
20. Curtains Close (skit)
^ I removed Stat Quo from SST because his verse is bad and he wasn't originally on the song when it was made during the 8 mile sessions in 2002
OP is not wrong. I have this Top 4 after his first 3 albums. Most times I put it over SSLP too.
It was just the first slip that he had, it's not terrible though. A shorter tracklist would've been perfect

Hard to find positives on this album.
Hard Knock Life by Hov arguably has the same style of sample as Like Toy Soldiers. Both great songs for their era.
Calling Encore with Dre mid is wild lol. It's one of the the least hateable songs on the album
I know people hate this song but its funny af to me and the flow is so slick
This and Mosh are dope.
Keep the rest of the album though

it wouldn't be so bad without the bodily fluid noises and the horrible beat (for a long time this was the worst beat Eminem had ever rapped on, until A****** on MMLP2).
The flow is sick, and the content is not horrible compared to some of the other joke songs. It should be noted this is one of the earlier songs made for Encore, not part of that infamous last sessions that birthed Ass Like That, Big Weenie, Rain Man and Just Lose It.

I’m not a fan of hard knock life either lol. Bass sounds off, mid verses but at least it actually has a decent beat with that piano loop in the verses. Crazy in love and like toy soldiers are just bad flips.
Also what do u mean great for their era? What are u measuring that off?
I never said the song encore was hateable just mid. Nothing verses, pointless 50 feature. Nothing particularly memorable

Ngl I love the beat lol
Agreed and it’s better than anything he’s dropped since
It's when he began to drop off, but I agree.
This was his last decent outing.

Relapse a classic
