This is a thread by @snow_tha_goat , I'm just posting because he can't make threads for some reason
Do you guys think first week sales (sps) have gone down? Obviously total sales (sps) have but i think first week sales (sps) have been the same atleast until october 8th when bundles stopped counting.
Also, sincle Bundles no longer count, should 750K first week be the new 1M first week?
Here's some data on first weeks since 1992. Has each years top 5 hiphop sales
My response: I think first weeks have decreased slightly. But the superstars are still doing superstar numbers - just less superstars
I think 1M is still 1M. It shouldnt be something just anyone can do. Only 4 artists have done it in hip-hop - hopefully someone becomes the fifth this decade
Yes

so should they give streams more weight?
explain
it's just a general trend in the music industry, no one buys albums anymore.

Eh. Just keep doing what they doing for now. It hasnt even been a month since bundles stopped counting. Lets see how it affects s*** first
as a result of streaming becoming the main form of music consumption and pure sales going way down (aside from a few artists with strong core fanbases such as Taylor, BTS and likely Adele when she releases) yes, not only hip-hop but industry wide sales have gone down.

streams count as sales
They will continue to decline if more rappers keep making albums just for streaming numbers instead of focusing on making a great album that you want to listen to from beginning to end.
streams count as sales
but they don't count as much sales
1500 streams is equivalent to 1 album sale.
streams count as sales
yeah but it's way easier to buy an album from the store than to stream an album 1500 times.

so if u were to compre first week sales of streaming era to 2000s what would your conversion rate be?
100k now = 130k then?
