they always try to do that on here so they can dishonestly pass the 20s like they are superior lmao

It's usually niggas who only have a surface level of knowledge on 2000's rap too.

Like they think Chingy and Soulja Boy were considered top rappers in the 2000's or some s*** when they both came and went.

There is a ton of timeless rap albums from the 2000's.

Ya'll need to get your ears checked. Even Tyler is a massive stan of the Neptunes and MF Doom who both entered their primes in the 2000's.

    Disagree.

You're telling me Blueprint, GRODT, Late Registration, Carter 2, TM101, MOTM, Urban Legend, Stillmatic, Madvillainy, Stankonia, Minstrel Show, Deltron 3030, Below The Heavens, Supreme Clientele, The Documentary, Hell Hath No Fury, etc. sound like "dust?"

Just say you're not as nostalgic for 2000's music.

I hate how people downplay 2000's rap on here when there's literally a huge nostalgia wave for that era of rap rn on Tik Tok lmao.

The albums you’ve named are all the classic s*** that obviously still sounds good

I was pretty vague in the post I made and it’s difficult to really explain what I mean but I was talking about the general sound

Feel like the difference between the 2000s and 2010s was bigger than the the difference between the 2010s and now

I 100% agree with your last point.

I especially feel like scorpion or drip too hard could drop today and they wouldn’t sound out of place at all

Oh and there will never be a 2 year run of classic s*** like from 11-12 s*** was crazy

2010s rap has aged so well compared to 2000s rap

A lot of 2000s stuff sounded like dust in the 2010s

Maybe i’m just old and nostalgic because i was a teen in the 2010s

    Disagree

2000s gave us some of the best rap ever

Tbh every decade of rap from 90s-2010s was pretty top tier

I love 80s rap but not on the same level because I feel like when it comes to albums it doesn’t have the same advantages of so many classic albums coming out, the first couple of years weren’t as album focused

You’re contradicting yourself there you said media literacy implying a necessity to have understanding of a sufficient level to be “literate” enough to understand damn. Lol you never once implied it was “basic art”

I don‘t think u can fully understand even basic (or "simple" as the better adjective) sociopolitical art without possesing some kind of media literacy. Basic art is non complex, unexceptional and simple but that doesn‘t mean you don‘t need to have some kind of consciousness about art interpretation to get it. Media literacy at its lowest form is just knowing how to decode media messages it doesn’t mean you’re a top A student in Ethics who understands high philosophy - if you don‘t even get Kendrick than it‘s joever for you is what I‘m saying

Yeah that makes sense but also the 2010s is a lot more recent and I feel like due to covid raps progression slowed down for a few years so 2022 rap sounded exactly like 2010s rap for a lot of artist so thats why it comes across less dated imo

So I don’t have this “media literacy” to understand “basic art” , as you’re referring to it as, lol bro I’m not the one trust me

I have synesthesia bro lol believe me I can understand art at a highly intuitive level so idk what you’re on lol

That's mostly because the innovators that were supposed to lead the 2020s era either died or sabotaged their careers.

So, things stagnated and we're still being lead by past rap stars essentially.

But I mostly just took issue with you labeling 2000s rap "dust." That's wild disrespectful lol.

And it's just funny to say it's not timeless when we're literally in a Y2K rap revival on social media and the industry.

You got mad rappers today remixing 2000s rap and r&b songs like crazy today lol.

Some users should just eat their brains: Kendricks music is not crazy highly intellectual but if you say you don‘t understand what he says you have to be stupid enough to not have basic media literacy

lol yeah I don’t understand the derivative cliched unoriginal thoughtfilled inauthentic work of Kendrick Lamar but I understand pascal this s*** is way too funny

But I won an award from the city of Los Angeles for art when I was 8 years old, yeah I don’t understand art how unfortunate and sad for me

You’re right. The early 80’s was all about singles, really good ones at that though. Production was insane back then. Albums didn’t start coming into the picture until Run DMC I feel and how they went platinum

Yeah they came after the electro and the bare drum machine sounds of like 81-85, albums didn’t start popping until 87 with Eric b and rakim and run dmc setting the stage in 86
