Step 1: Listen to TV On The Radio instead, more specifically Dear Science and Return to Cookie Mountain.

Now that is a name I aint heard in a while

If you like that id say listen to a moon shaped pool. My second favorite of theirs, its more songs with that kind of vibe

the fans are definitely more pretentious than the band itself

I thought the same tbh in high school, and then I listened to a different band.

Most overrated band oat, carried by production

Thom Yorke is a hack who hides behind reverb and a pretty good soft voice but his writing is not as profound as people would like to say

People act like Ok Computer actually had anything to say about technology but it was just “wah I’m so white and alienated and pretentious”

They did a lot of different styles over the years, but if you don't like kid a, in rainbows or ok computer then it's over dawg

This is something I actually noticed
I was expecting extremely deep and emotional writing but it’s just not, at least on the surface

Yeah the emotion is not there in the lyrics or music tbh, they just imply that level of depth in their aesthetics and whiny interviews and fans kind of project that onto the music I think

I don’t know exactly what “deep” songwriting is supposed to be but I enjoy Thom’s writing . I like how abstract he tends to be.
