I dont think he wants to be the neptunes his just inspired by them
I'm more so talking bout a certain sect of tyler fans that want tyler to go on a similar production run like neptunes based off their influence on him
Tyler did it to himself. Pharrell a pretty boy and hood niggas was f***ing with him when he got the Nore, Diddy, HOV, snoop, etc co sign which the youth of that time were listening to. Tyler was standoffish in his come up he should’ve made songs with Wayne and other rappers or pop musicians whose popularity were at the peak of the youth of that time instead of waiting until Cherry Bomb. Tyler can complain all he wants but he knows it’s his fault
I mean are we really going sit here and act like the reason why Tyler struggles to get certain artist to collab with him isn't because he's still dealing with the negative stigma of his earlier edgelord years?
Dude used to say bad things about Selena Gomez constantly, then tried to smash Bieber, only to have gull to attempt to get him on a song after all that.
Tyler is semi blackballed and that will never change. By dissing those artists he also pissed off their team and management who also work with tons of other artists too. By burning one bridge he burned like 10 other ones lol. He'll never get to work in the pop industry.
tbh even if its justified I think the hate train has run with this sentiment a bit too universally. Tyler's sound is simply not palatable for a mainstream audience because its already been done and swiftly phased out by a mainstream audience 20 years ago. it can't be rendered futuristic or pop-funk anymore. are people really gunna complain that Bieber doesn't hop on backyardigans beats and cowbell orgies this is like that cringe phase where Kevin abstract was tryna make Shawn Mendes a pointlessly meta ironic spectacle.
fwiw I absolutely loved this and still do , but you can't tell me with a straight face that pop artists tryna accumulate a billion streams are in the wrong for not wanting to be on stuff like this
!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFLP9XzFrq0Maybe the public has forgave/doesn't care about Tyler's past but the people in the industry do not forget. They will hold a grudge and blackball people that cross them forever. He pissed off the wrong people and now he's paying for it.

!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFLP9XzFrq0Damn u got a pessimistic take on pop music
That’s the point
I’m not gon be rude cause u seem kinda slow to pickup on stuff
And I’m a lil tipsy
anyway Tyler actually makes beats that sound different from the cookie cutter billboard 200 s*** we hear everyday
I feel like this kelis beat is in the same vein of something that Tyler would do but it’s more embraced because it was a different time
That’s the point
Link a Tyler beat as good as milkshake
you just have to be old enough to remember when this song came out to get it lol
i never liked it cause it’s not my style but it was the sound at the time
Song is iconic. Rappers just need to get back to doing catchy hooks. Put R&B singers back on hooks. Been out of style for like a decade now, time to bring it back. Too many niggas singing

Thank you

Is he blackballed? I remember when he blew up around Yonkers he had a whole show on adult swim and everything plus the frank ocean connection
Might have something to do with how music is distributed now vs. then? Back then s*** would come on the radio or MTV or BET, etc, and you'd jus watch it while it slowly grows on u even though it was unusual at first. Nowadays ppl can choose what to listen to and therefore be as receptive (or dismissive) to left field sounds as the want

He’s not Trinidad James level blackballed but I guess he’s not getting max Martin money anytime soon
The answer is that most women love this song & they love Kelis
Most women dont love Tyler & his music
I know about 10 girls that listen to Tyler and they all bad
People forget that this thread isn’t about Tyler but more about mainstream cookie cutter production being regurgitated to death instead of using more obscure production.
LA beat makers have even more obscure production than Tyler’s. Tyler music is only slightly left field. People will cop out and still call him a nerd clone instead of being influenced by them and spinning it into something of his own.
Regardless of what you think you can definitely hear Tyler’s own essence in his production rather than just hearing nerd/Neptune’s/ Pharrell.
But the point of this thread is artists copping out of trying something different with their production choices.
Best example is The Weeknd, he changed up his production from various recent albums. Star boy was a step into pop and after hours literally went more into pop.
MDM is reminiscent of trilogy.
