I know what you mean but Kanye songs are so good that even if it sounds a bit out of date it’s still so timeless and that timelessness makes it what it is, it wouldn’t be the album without that

OP, you're wrong, MBDTF is not stretched out in any way.
Songs are long because beats and ideas behind them are good. MBDTF has such a fine structure that it has an easy to follow narrative.

Post-Yeezus, Kanye albums have this short songs which is basically like a demo that was a little more fleshed out, one verse and that's all, on the other hand, I can see effort and craft behind MBDTF.

It's easy to make 30 small songs, try to make 10 great ones and you'll understand.

MBDTF is timeless as well as Yeezus each in their own way, also I woud argue, that when we move on to the next stage of music, there is a possibility that people would see Yeezus as dated album because Kanye was trying to make music of the future but music of the future appeared to be different, on the other hand MBDTF will always remain a classic rap album with samples without an ambition to sound futuristic.

I feel like what you said about Yeezus applies to Graduation now

    3rd best kanye album imo

LR and Yeezus are my favs

But its not #3 for me for the reasons you listed. Its #3 because theres some songs like AOTL & Monster i have no desire to hear ever.

Still an amazing album tho. Runaway & Hell of a Life still in my top 10 kanye tracks.

monster is a crazy workout song

  • I really be forgetting how f***ing incredible Kanye’s discog is. Dropping a project like MBDTF would already be more than enough for an entire CAREER, but he also dropped LR and 808s and Yeezus. Those are genuinely 4 of the best projects of all time, and his other stuff isn’t far behind. He’s the greatest artist of the 21st century and it’s not even close.

You may have heard it in a different way today, but the way that you enjoyed it the first time around still holds weight. Personally I rarely listen to the album these days, but the enjoyment I got when it came and the memories it brought are still important.

I mean you got a point but your wrong about that making MBDTF worse

  • Mar 13, 2021

"MBDTF" was meant to be listened to front to back.

Sure there are a couple of tracks you can pick out & listen to on their own.

But it's meant to be experienced in whole.

Ye's never gonna reach that level of sonic excellence/lyrical miracle s*** ever again.

("LR" is a close 2nd though)

Since we’re dropping hot takes, I feel the same about the College Dropout. I feel like people are blinded by nostalgia. Handful of very good tracks, but others are very mediocre. Skits drag out sometimes.
