you can get that in other places like the arts too y'know

What I'm saying is why none of yall are just even allowing the possibility that sports just aint a kid's thing?
Encouraging physical fitness and activity is one thing but, I don't think forcing a kid to a competitive sport if they truly don't wanna do that is gonna always yield the best results.
Especially as a black person, we literally don't even give our own a chance or praise if it don't involve a ball.
you can do both
as someone that's done both, I wanna know why it's hard to imagine someone just wants to do the arts tho
What if your kid legitimately hates it though? Like what if your kids hate sports and to an extent spending time with you because you forced them to do some s*** they hated for 10+ years?
they can quit at 6th grade
they can quit at 6th grade
force your kid to do something they don't wanna do until 6th grade, sounds like great parenting to me

I kinda feel you and I kinda don’t. Like I’ll never agree with forcing your kids to pursue sports to live your dreams vicariously through them but I feel like every kid should have some sort of physical activity they do on a somewhat consistent basis. Whether it’s team sports, martial arts, skateboarding, biking, etc

I mean that's why I said encouraging physical fitness and activity is one thing. I aint say nah keep your kids inside. most kids are gonna be hyperactive anyways as long as parents is doing the right thing.
Nigga I was forced into swimming lessons at a ghetto ass ymca and that s*** was legit traumatizing lmao.

you known nothing about parenting . parents force kids to do stuff all the time. its your duty.
no one is saying be controlling, but you should have some control over your kids, especially when they are younger

But you learned how to swim tho. That’s a valuable skill.
My mom made me pick an instrument to learn when I was a kid and I came to love it. Then I always had a sport I played too. I feel like it make me a more well rounded kid
niggas is acting like PE isn't mandated until you're in the 10th grade
niggas is acting like PE class aint subpar lol.

I can still hate the process to learn that skill if it was legit traumatizing my nigga. I think that's the part you're leaving out.
We gotta stop romanticizing "the pain" in the journey too lol.
