Life After Death or Ready To Die?
Life After Death
That album was the better version of Biggie, in my opinion. He was more advanced on that album.
The production on Illmatic hasn’t aged well. The production on RTD still sounds crisp. Also, Big had hotter bars
Nah illmatic production aged just fine. Both albums did
Illmatic is 10/10, ready to die is 9.8/10, the s***skit and friend of mine stop it being perfect
Unpopular opinion but I always preferred It Was Written and Life After Death to both.
But, if it boils down to these 2, then it's Illmatic for me easily.
I don’t think that’s an unpopular opinion. Everyone considers life after death the better big album. Also a good portion of folks like IWW more than illmatic.
Possibly Illamtic for me but Life After Death is better than both
I change my mind Reasy to Die is better than Illmatic. Life After Death is still better than both though.

Yeah for sure, he levelled up massively, which isnt an easy thing to do

I really like friend of mine. My least favourite song on the album is Things Done Changed. Which I know lots of people really like
Bigs beat selection and flow is what set him above and for me. However, I could argue that illmatic is the greatest hip hop album of all time.
crazy how each have songs that can be considered "the greatest song in hip-hop" to me as well

damn things done changed used to be my fav biggie song, that one-two punch of things done changed into gimme the loot to kick off the album was instant classic type s***
Surprised this isn't more of a common debate in rap, considering they came out around the same time and both are NY classics. Illmatic aura hard to beat
I was telling someone the other day that its weird that ready to die is known as classic but it really should be praised like illmatic. Its somehow a known classic and still slept on. S*** is a mbdtf level album. I dont think anyone can argue that s***.
