Cole did not drop The Warm Up, Friday Night Lights, 2014 FHD, 4 Your Eyez Only, The Off Season and an insane 5 year feature run just to be questioned of his position at the top of the mountain
Yep end thread
That album is amazing. HBO doc that went with it is beautiful as well
That’s another reason why this dude goated and I’m so happy as a fan! He’s literally given us fans over 5+ hours of in-depth documentary footage
That 6 part homecoming HBO special? Come on man, nigga been holding it down for so long and still doesn’t get his respect around here. People would rather meme or give lukewarm opinion than appreciate everything he’s given to rap and the fans
if we’re talking about sheer popularity, sales whatever then Cole is undoubtedly a part of the big 3
what confuses me though is when people try to extend that and try to act like Cole is on par with either Kendrick or Drake cause they’re in the same class, that’s not how things work lol—that if anything is a product of nostalgia
That big 3 s*** is a relic of a bygone era it no longer exists probably never will again
He got in there cause people didn't wanna give it to a woman(Nicki) or a trap rapper (Future)
But realistically he was never better then either
future wasn’t future when the big 3 moniker began and nicki’s peak rap ability still didnt touch cole’s pen
if we’re talking about sheer popularity, sales whatever then Cole is undoubtedly a part of the big 3
You’ve been lead to believe while Nicki exists but they don’t wanna have that convo
lmao stop. big 4, but not big 3
That album is amazing. HBO doc that went with it is beautiful as well
yeah im not a big Cole fan but i’d say 4YEO is my favorite
love the concept of the album, the smooth jazzy production and his writing on that s***
For Whom The Bell Tolls might be my favorite Cole song period
Album was good, Drake does the same dropping an album with 2 radio songs with the rest being “fan favs”
Drake hasn’t dropped an actual album since 2016
he’s big 3 cause he’s one of the best bar for bar, makes hit records, is one of the highest selling rappers, was one of the first of his class to sell out arenas and he has classic albums and songs
it’s really no debate to be had
“the big 3” was completely made up by Cole fans to proselytize people into thinking Cole held a candle to Drake or Kendrick when he never did and even now doesn’t really
kendrick was the last addition into the big 3 lmao
ktt2.com/bro-cole-really-one-of-the-greatest-of-all-time-32567053
We was literally just talkin bout this
TLDR: No Cole more consistent then Kendrick
kendrick was the last addition into the big 3 lmao
is that what you genuinely believe?
it's not about how many classics he has, it's about his status amongst his piers which is so clearly on a different level than. that's why he deserves that big 3 connotation.

yeah, anyone that was there should say the same thing. Cole was coming off 2 classic tapes, already signed, already collab’d with Drake, also had the feature on Hov’s album. Both dropped their debut albums before Kendrick was acknowledged by mainstream. Kendrick was making noise on the blogs but he wasnt a household name until at least end of 2011/beginning of 2012. I legit remember the jokes about the rap game about to be taken over by lightskins in 2010/2011. Cole had his spot cemented before Kendrick so its crazy seeing niggas tryna rewrite history now

They don’t know it’s just that Cole first album had some tough cuts but wasn’t a classic same with Drake but what saved them was the mixtapes they dropped before if Cole had FNL as his first debut album he would’ve received the same praise as Kendrick with GKMC same with Drake with SFG which still they both got high praise just wasn’t albums

Last good project was over a decade ago..Hopefully next album is a return to form

exactly. we've had this debate for years. his numbers don't lie. there's a only a few rappers out who could MAYBE match his status.
At a certain point you gotta just accept that a lot of people genuinely fw his music
Im not a huge Cole fan but I find like trying to fight against Cole being respected is just an obviously losing battle at this point and on top of that he is pretty good so its not even worth being bothered about
kendrick was the last addition into the big 3 lmao
yeah i’m realizing they just weren’t there man lol
im a fan of kendrick most
but as a nigga who lived through it, cole first album was an insane success, bigger than what was projected.
cole, drake, future and big sean were popping on the radio before kendrick broke through with swimming pools, the idea that cole fans would need to create the big 3 concept to place cole with an artist he was already bigger than didn’t even make sense
Last good project was over a decade ago..Hopefully next album is a return to form
The Off Season dropped in 2021
is that what you genuinely believe?
Y'all really forget that GKMC dropped late 2012? Kendrick didn't become a big topic in mainstream rap till 2013. By then, Drake and Cole were already established in the rap game, especially following the respective releases of NWTS and Born Sinner.
Drake was the clear frontrunner as the leader of the generation and interestingly enough, niggas like Wale & Big Sean were still in the conversation so the Big 3 talks weren't that much of thing yet. That didn't happen till 2015, post-2014 FHD, IYRTITL & TPAB when it was clear who the 3 biggest names in rap of the current generation were. That's when all the chatter of the Big 3 started (thanks in part to Elliott Wilson).
