Seriously what was the last great comedy film? 2000s and early 2010s had so many classics... Anchorman, Superbad, 21 jump Street etc. Its been dead for almost the last 10 year.

Sprinkles of amazing comedy exist in The Nice Guys & The Gentlemen

Man I’ve been thinking about this. Hasn’t been a major comedy film in the longest smh. Crazy because 2000s was prob the peak of comedy films. Wish we had more of those corny slapstick comedy films

past 10 years we had Sorry To Bother You, The Favourite, Toni Erdmann, Parasite, Beach Bum, Inherent Vice, Knives Out...

I think most of it just moved to smaller formats tbh, TV series or even youtube. Like Eric Andre and lots of other adult swim shows are def keeping it alive

    Yes

Just implemented with other genres now as opposed to pure comedies, mcu movies are effectively comedies

a lot of those mid 00s-early 10s comedies sucked anyway

they were just trendy at the time, which has now been replaced with superhero/franchise movies

This literally was the end of that streak of comedy films

Edit: I mean it was the last good big comedy film

My comment about The Nice Guys

Was this really a comedy? I think there are a lot more than we think, and it's just marketing companies moving away from the slap stick 2000's promo runs.

    It all moved to streaming.

I’ve said it before and imma say it again, the inevitability of the theatrical business is blockbusters only

Smaller movies gonna go to streaming and we’re already seeing that
