Yes
listening to ribs going thru high school was crazy I'm sorry for anyone who couldn't experience this
Bravado and 400 Lux too
But why? Nas handles the idea of transitioning from a teen to an adult beautifully all over this album that genuinely is a great pick for best coming of age
For sure, stuff like World is Yours and One Love are really good examples of that but I feel like the best songs on PH resonates with my gen way more
The way Nas approaches it isn’t worse I just think it’s less relateable
no one else has wrote about the feeling of being an adolescent in music like she did

LMAO.
I appreciate the breakdowns itt but let’s keep it a buck:
Illmatic is being denied as coming of age compared to Pure Heroine because pop culture got us thinking coming of age has to mean white
I mean is "coming of age" not a white thing
nah simply cos of that trash royals song great album tho. i’d take gkmc illmatic miseducation any day of the week before this
the lyrics really ruin royals for me lmao the album is near perfect though besides that
how did nobody mention this?? goat coming of age album
Cuz this bands booty
Absolutely not
I mean ofc not but I meant the way it has been displayed in a popular manor has all been through a white lens
Cuz this bands booty
maybe now but you can't deny that this and twin fantasy are terrific
the lyrics really ruin royals for me lmao the album is near perfect though besides that
s*** sound so racist to me when i grew up
I mean is "coming of age" not a white thing
Inherently no because the conventions of “coming of age” aren’t tied to white culture, ie how a lot of hiphop conventions are tied to black culture. Not even the conventions established through those white coming of age stories are tied to whiteness
Tho culturally it is, but the whiteness of coming of age is purely surface level and is just what we’re used to seeing
