This is how I imagine you actually. Just nodding away every time your head forms a critical thought.

How is this relevant, her shows were sold out. The point is even if you’re popular enough to sell every seat you’re still touring at a loss
If jamila woods is really about music for the art then she’ll still do it as a hobby knowing it comes at a loss money wise, but still have a side job to make ends meet
But she not doing that cause at the end of the day she just wants a bank

Jamila woods been doing this for 12+ years.
Actually started off as a poet while also being the associate artistic director of young chicago authors (YCA) while also helped with creating curriculums for public schools in chicago.
And she’s heavily invovled in community work especially if you see her ig.
But I mention that (12+ years) thing because in the last 5 years we have seen the industry change in record speed that has left a lot of artists in no man’s land that a decade ago, that wouldn’t have happened.
Even Lorde made an article about how touring comes as a burden to artists now. And that’s Lorde for goodness sake lol.
So what are you trying to prove when popstars are telling you they are struggling to tour in the green?
Like I said, lot of these ppl justvdon’t like music on here. (Ye bringing in a lot of toxicity with his heel turn played a huge part in that)
So of course it’s easy to just say statements like that.
Music industry is f***ing cooked, streaming where it's at now
Unironically artists should stream just daily life stuff, them in the studio working & whatever hobby they have
Shoutout schoolboy q for streaming games and shout out tpain who streams studio sessions

Art is donezo
(Type mad I was supposed to see this show in nyc but i was busy that day smh)

And this aint one of those “aww she got low ticket sales” situations as they were selling well (Paris was already sold out)
it would be easier to say “due to unforeseen circumstances,” but a dear friend encouraged me to be more transparent. many people don’t realize that musicians often tour at a loss
She proceeds to explain how it’s a huge investment to tour with a band + crew of our size, and i’ve been fortunate to make that investment many times. but the landscape has changed drastically since 2020. between renting gear, transportation and accommodation costs, even if we sold out every show the financial burden wouldn’t be practical to take on.
artists been talking about this for a while. Merch and touring were the last things artists had that really made them any money. If niggas can’t really tour then wtf do we have left?
i’m eagerly envisioning a future where musicians can unionize, where streaming services pay artists fairly, and where the industry becomes more equitable for artists at all stages of their careers. in the meantime, i’m gonna take a beat to reimagine what a more sustainable way of touring overseas could look like, and also dream on some alternative ways to connect on here and irl.
I fux with the optimism but I wonder when ppl gonna realize the only remedy to fix this is a hard reset
When did she divorce from James Blake?

Art is donezo
Its still art
Not a difference of like documentaries, behind the scene footage & vlogs that artists do imo
As long as it doesnt become their number 1 thing/priority
But streaming is literally free money (and free advertising if you want to think of it from buisnesses) there is no reason why an artist cant take advantage of it along with adding to their fandom & "promo"
As long as they dont wild out or some dumb s*** on air
Streams at the studios n s*** would be super dope & still in line with what they do, which some do already but its not utilized a lot
Stuff like streaming and vids is an easy modern way of earning extra money, extra exposure & owning your own "promo" that is artist controlled
I mean one of the reasons TDE blew up was their vlogs and joke vids at the studio and the house all 4 of them lived in together for a bit, real 1s know what im talking about, along with freestyle/cypher vids and loosies music videos and songs
Same with Odd Future who also utlized tf out of Vine n Youtube
Even Drake had little vlog vids here and there in his early days where he would be around Wayne, Joe Budden, Cole, Sean, Cudi, Nicki etc. during sfg & tml and now the day in a life, giveaways, collabs and gambling type of streams he does here n there
Streaming and videos in general is so under utilized in music and its something an artist can actually control and (hopefully) reap the benefits of nearly 100 percent
Doesnt even have to be a "character" or stereotypical stream-core s*** - just you and it doesn't even have to be an all day thing
Its given TPain a whole 2nd wind because he streams studio sessions of other artists (he does engineering and beats for artists now for a while) & him as a singer/rapper, as an example

At the end of the day music is like the nba. Only the 1% are going to make it, get your degree or learn a trade fam
you’re an idiot
you’re an idiot
Especially since the artist of thread is part of the "one percent"
It's not. You can't make money then it can't be a job. That simple.
so unapologetically braindead
in between that Future Drake megathread and this one being polluted with 2024 trolls this site is basically unusable at this point
might just start lurking or get on TikTok, it would be a better use of my time honestly
