John Campea response: To my point... if you remove the monkey stuff, all of it... does that affect ANY of the rest of the movie in any way at all? Does it change anything if it was removed? Anything that can be completely pulled from a movie, and its removal doesn't change a single thing about the film... is pointless.

Also pretty bad take on his part, I hate the idea that anything not absolutely pertaining to the advancement of the plot is filler or unnessecary. And if he was actually thoughtful about it, those scenes are intergral to the whole message of the movie and tie into the characters actions.

Yea this movie was fire! I honestly didn’t find it confusing at all the only thing I didn’t fully understand is how Steven backstory tied into everything

And the Steven character backstory chapter definitely was inspired by Kill Bill, not in a bad way but it definitely reminded me of that

My first watch theory is it had something to do with the rapture? Cus that UFO lowkey looked like an Angel in the end

I didn’t like this more than Get out but definitely liked this more than Us (and I enjoyed Us a decent amount too)
