it's less knowing how to operate cisco devices and more knowing about the osi layers and how data flows from one device to another over a network. also you should become knowledgeable on linux because it is important that you know how to maneuver the command line.

Thats good, I'm in a networking class rn and about to take a Security course next semester. Cisco isnt bad ig, ive become more comfortable with it, but i dont wanna learn about s*** that wont be used...

Linux I'm going to learn thru a course i took last year. It's still open to me for another year and I never did the certification for it

even with the drop that’s not bad money.

Always a good option. You only work 3 days a week too

Get a pretty good work life balance as an RN

CCNA/Cisco stuff is more vendor specific, as you might imagine, so it's gonna be used less. However, something like Network+ is vendor neutral, but CCNA is more in depth than Net+ (more practical stuff, rather than just concepts). I'd just say get N+ & Sec+ if you don't have a pre-existing foundation in networking (get Sec+ regardless if you wanna go into security).

Sec+ really isn't that bad and I'd say you really don't need to have taken A+ & N+ prior, unless you have no IT experience at all.

fwiw, I got my security job with just a Sec+. Saw a lot more responses with that on my resume.

    Thanks for the info G.

I do have a strong hardware and desktop background from over a decade of diagnosing my own s*** and fixing stuff for people, i like network stuff cuz its a lil more complex

Ik, im asking if cisco devices are that widely used because I heard they arent

They are used but not widely just like wes said above, Cisco courses are more in depth and you'll learn more from them. CyberSec is hard to learn you need to know multiple fields of IT, its not a simple course its like a journey over the years. Look at this graph, master 2 3 fields and be decent at the others. Takes time but it's worth it tbh.

sure, anytime. if you plan on taking the security+, i think you'll do more than fine, especially since you have a background in IT (or just know computers in general lol). all i did was watch the professor messer sec+ playlist on 1.5x speed and, got the jason dion practice exams on udemy, and i passed the exam first try. really just gotta put the time into learning the material, but it's really not that bad.

Yea,an RN traveling nurse could be a decent gig if that’s what you wanna do. The job itself has kinda become a meme tho cause a lot of traveling nurses will have you believe they make no less then 6 figures every job lol. I think an RN can make a nice living wage tho,it just depends on how frequent you get jobs and what not.

    nigga they dont?

I’m talking about traveling CNAs who cap and hide behind 4 yr,Bachelors Degree RN travel pay like they really getting that. Last time I checked,a traveling CNA makes a just a lil above the normal rate they’d make at a nursing home, the pay rate might’ve went up some cause of all these position shortages but, traveling RNs getting paid paid.

good to know yeah i initially wanted to be a journalist but not only do i not particularly enjoy writing that much, it's a dead field.

so my current crackpot dream is to see the world and help people hospital to hospital, filter the money into my music passion + go to local shows and jam with people, and hopefully find a band or some niggas that i can start making a career out of my art

Yea man,if the field your studying doesn’t involve a computer or hands on-helping people,it’s a huge gamble right now.
