Don't be ashamed, I learned and got my license at 23 as well. It has to get done sooner or later, just pull through and get comfortable on the road. Drive for yourself and other people because there are some garbage drivers out there young and old.
Niggas got a license in June, i was 22 don’t feel embarrassed people’s live move at different paces
crazy, all my homies and pretty much my whole highschool got it at 17(age is 17 in jersey) and clowned tf outta me for not getting that s*** till I was 19. Over here you a bum if you don’t have it like a month after your 17th. Everyone scheduled their test day of the 17th or latest some time that week and if they failed they would reschedule ASAP
i mean tbh we were all the same up here too hahaha, mf we had to have a lieutenant in the group that’d drive Unc’s Benz to prom + after prom YERRR
Dont feel alone i got my s*** at 21. driving is weird to me. I have a love hate relationship with it. I can drive alone but when niggas get my ear backseat driving i get nervous af
I be like nigga I’m driving stfu
I've had my license since i was 16
Just practice obey traffic rules and always pay attention to other drivers and everything else around you
High schools in the US have driving lessons? Damn, that's dope af.
I got my license last year, I was supposed to get it when I was 22 but the pandemic delayed it and I got it at 23. Here it's not that uncommon to get it late as we don't depend that much on cars like the US (and the legal age for driving is 18). The hard part for me was learning everything while having to drive a manual, which is not hard, but for a new driver it makes s*** much more difficult.
OP, you can't change the past, the best time to get it is now. And you're still young.
I got lessons when I was 18 lol and they taught me In a week and got my license the next month them mofos had me in the streets also first day I was like dafuq aight lmao
I didnt get my license till I was 20. And even then, I got it just to get it. I'm a decent driver, but I still am a bit uncomfortable going long distances.

never got mine, not sure i ever will.
knew 3 people that died in separate accidents over a 4 year period when i was in high school and it's f***ed my head up since
i’m learning to drive at the age of 23. Wishing I did this years ago but I just never have
I practiced with my dad for an hour or two in a parking lot, didn’t even make it out on the road. Had my first lesson this morning and dude just made me go out on the road we started in the residential area near my house and then we moved out into main roads
Honestly, it’s a lot easier and less scary than I anticipated. Handling the car itself is nowhere near as difficult as it looks, thing just kinda does the work for you. It’s mostly road rules/ handling others in traffic that I need to practice with
Anyone else learn to drive at a late age or can give any advice? Hoping to have my license before my 24th bday in may, I think that’s a reasonable window of time
UPDATE : I PASSED
You’ll be straight. Driving literally just requires reps. Like a lot of things. You’ll be shook to begin with. other drivers on the road will be intimidating and some will try to intimidate you(like if you are going limit, if you’re more patient w/ traffic in a turning lane, etc...). Never bend what you’re doing for those people. They know what they can do — go right around you. Other than that just start by doing the parking lot s***. Then short distances from the crib. Then further. The biggest leap will be getting on the highway but idk where you live. Getting the license is easy. You don’t have to be perfect just fundamentally sound. I failed my first test because the b**** said I was too cool. I neglected the fundamentals. I had been driving before so I was comfortable. She docked me points for driving with one hand, leaning back in my seat, little s*** like that that seem like no big deal when you drive alone matter to them. Had to go back the next week. Most places will give you ID if you cant parallel. So don’t worry about that. But take some cones to a lot and practice it. Trash cans in front of the house work too. That’s all there is to it
turning 23 this month. i started learning how to drive at 17, failed my first driving test, and then procrastinated my way through 3 learning permits. so i can technically drive, getting the actual license is just a matter of getting another permit and some practice

Man its so easy to drive w/o ID that I understand how one could procrastinate through multiple permits
I didn’t learn until after 21. I was in a crash when I was a kid and it had me kinda paranoid to drive even years after. Even being in the car with someone speeding use to have me shook. It’s really not as bad as expected when you get some good practice in. Every now and then I have a moment when I see a car tweaking but it’s never to the level it was at before. We all got different paths and life experiences that push back some things. That’s why I never clown someone for being 21+ with no car or L’s.
Same.
Pffft bruh u got the license just practice. Manual is a pain at first but when u get the hang of it its fun af
Lol I love driving manual. My car right now is manual and it’s so f***ing fun to drive. Tried teaching my girl over the weekend how to drive it and she gave up pretty quick
Better to learn a bit at a time tbh. Starting the car was the hardest to me. I killed that b**** probably 40 times before finally understanding it

My driving instructor used to be screaming at me dawg! 😂 but once i got the hang of manual it was fun felt like i was a professional driver
Bro i strted mine a month before i turned 19 and now im 20 and will be done in like 2.5 months (covid slowed me down) and man I couldn’t drive for s*** but i got the hang of it
Definetly wish i started earlier, kinda hard to talk to girls without one. My city has hella public transport subway etc but in the burbs where i am it’s necessary
Cant wait to be whipping

Ye when i lived in the states friends were driving by 16, it takes 3-6months and the whole process is usually free
In canada 18-19 is the norm, it takes 8-12months and in my city u have to pay 1k for the whole process
It may feel embarrassing by society’s standards but I truly never cared. I got my license and first car at 21. If I can drive trust me then anyone can. Almost crashed by sisters car putting the car in reverse and smashing the gas by accident. Months later I finally payed for a driving class. My instructor was mad chill and kept it composed. Once you learn the basics (turning, breaking, signaling, checking Mirrors, lane changing etc.) it’s mostly then just worrying about others on the road and aware of road signs. I was the worst driver and my whole household was scared to let me drive. Took a a week class and I’d say it took me a good 2-3 months to master driving. It’s really easy af. My only thing is my parking is terrible lol

So embarrassing and a huge setback. Having to tell a b**** you gotta lyft or constantly getting your friends to scoop you. I got tired of it and finally said let me learn
