this happened to me a lot too
and I want to let u know it's not your fault
when you're speed-reading or when you read a manga that didnt leave its mark on you or inspired/influenced you in any way then it's only natural for it to end up in your mental recycle bin
the only way to counter this is to read less series on a schedule......that can be done by reading weekly releases or having a specific time in your day/week where you go into reading mode instead of reading impulsively
sorry for the tldr im just trying to help
I agree, a lot of the manga i’ve been reading and have forgot was mediocre and didnt really stand out, but the problem is a lot of the great manga that i’ve read despite being great are now in that same mental recycle bin. I read HxH like 8 years ago, and couldn’t tell you s*** about it, on the other hand i’ve watched and read Naruto like 15-16 years ago and to this day i remember every single arc despite never having reread or rewatched it. I think i’m gonna follow your advice on setting aside some time specifically for reading, but it’s hard not to binge when you get the itch

There's one thing I can say for sure.....we read manga cause we enjoy it. If it starts feeling like a chore take a break

isnt your username from The Breaker?
and if so, is the sequel worth reading?
I hate the fact that i can’t remember s*** anymore, i’ve read so many manga but the more time that passes the more i forget, it’s like i never read them at all
Oh, man do I know that feeling. There was a time I was so anxious with this stuff that I started screenshotting the manga pages so I could look up what I couldn't remember, not only it didn't work but I also ended up with like 3000+ screenshots when I finished Slam Dunk (and about 100 - 300 when I finished Onani Master Kurosawa, which is even more worrying considering how short it is). It stopped as I moved from big mangas to not really that many mangas at all and then some mangas here and there, but mostly 1 - 2 volumes stuff. Nowadays I just realize that is only natural - at least to me - to forget these things, even with the art you love the most. You mentioned HxH, if it wasn't something that I watch some clips from time to time, I'd 100% forget some parts like when the Genei Ryodan appears on the Chimera Ants arc, or the whole Greed Island - Bomber thing. My advice would be not to think too much and just flow normally, but taking time when you're reading is also great as others have suggested it (of course, some manga are made to be read fast, like Yuichi Yokoyama or Gekiga, and even HxH (they say that in japanese the long wall of text generally flows much much nicer, sadly we lose this in the translation)). Don't pay much attention to this stuff, and yeah, if mangas are feeling like a chore maybe take a break and watch some anime, or tokusatsu if that's your thing, or even different manga, like slice of life 4-panels comedy mangas or straight up non-narrative stuff.
haven’t read a manga in years, really want to get back into these
someone rec something good, im a noob tbh

And i remember enjoying the og breaker more than New Waves so idk if i can recommend especially since i’ve forgotten everything about NW lmao
I've only read some Berserk and Vinland Saga. What would you guys consider essential? My local library has a pretty wide selection (Bleach, Full Metal Alchemist, Death Note, etc).

Yeah, i’m for sure gonna slow down, start reading a few manga, hopefully i can remember them for longer now

How long does Jojo take to get good? I saw an episode of the show and it was nuts. Scanned the manga and it was some s*** victorian drama about schoolboys

Jojo is divided into 8 part, each part is kinda unique, with a new MC, new places & time
If you're not feeling part 1 (the victorian s***) you can try other parts since it always introduces you new things
Haven’t had the free time to read lately i end up just watching anime
Gonna go on a fat reading binge as soon as I get the opportunity to finish the stuff I’ve added from here
Boruto manga is so good, i’m really excited to see how they get to the flash forward from chapter 1
Jojolion manga feels like it’s been going on too long but also doesn’t feel finished yet. need Araki to wrap it up somehow.
speaking of JoJo, since part 7 mirrors parts 1-2 & part 8 mirrors parts 3-4, i hope part 9 will mirror parts 5-6
i’ve been told to read One Punch Man manga so i’ll get back to you guys on that when i finish

The art is almost unreal. Might be actually the best I have seen

is there a colored version or is uncolored the move?
i recently read through Demon Slayer manga uncolored & only found out a colored version existed with 30 chapters left (looked way better than the uncolored version), so i don’t wanna make that same mistake lol
