    Hope this is a joke

The weakest MBV record s***s on Souvlaki. Will never understand why people call that s*** a classic theres a million shoegaze records from the 90's with more character than that boring ass record.

When the Sun Hits cool tho.

recently none. but i know i speak for alot of people when i say i can barely bump pro era s*** now

I have a harder time listening to ab soul now. The lyrics used to hit different when I was younger but the fake deepness in his music is VERY apparent to me now.

you really taking those earl MBV EPs over Souvlaki though? i never listened to them personally but only heard bad things lol

Honestly kinda grew out of Earl Sweatshirt over the past year. Not because I think it’s bad music or anything but because I can’t relate to as much of what he’s saying anymore.

The swirlies are one of the most underrated shoegaze bands and had one of the best projects (They spent thier wild youthful days..) from that era. Souvlaki is a good record but it has alot on mid tracks on it compared to Loveless. But when it does deliver it has amazing moments (Souvlaki Space Station, 40 days, When the Sun Hits).

Ok I can't say their early early s*** like Geek is better but anything past 87' (You Made Me Realize and Ecstacy included) is better.

Souvlaki's an average pop record that overuses reverb and delay to pretend it's making a bold artistic statement

Favorite Shoegaze band by far. The noise rock influences and dissonance + wall of noise was always the goat combo to me.

I remember listening to that now that I seen that cover, I don't remember a track off that tho needa spin it tonight

Swirlies, MBV, Ride, and like a handful of other groups in shoegaze are all I really consider worth listening to in that genre.

That entire genre is so derivative and can't move past the MBV worship a lot of groups just sound like each other and have no identity beyond that. Sad cuz nothing hits like shoegaze sometimes but there's no point of looking for new groups when they all fall into like 3 different archetypes.

True most shoegaze band's I've come across just seem to be obsessed with capturing the dreampop aesthetic and don't really care about pushing the genre foward. There's alot of interesting paths you could take with shoegaze in my opinion. You could go the punk route and use more metallic guitar tones and off kilter rhythms (which would be great imo). Or even utilize some jazz influence's and have more complicated chord progressions, better voice leading, weird modulations etc. F*** even blues infused shoegaze would be more interesting.
