True most shoegaze band's I've come across just seem to be obsessed with capturing the dreampop aesthetic and don't really care about pushing the genre foward. There's alot of interesting paths you could take with shoegaze in my opinion. You could go the punk route and use more metallic guitar tones and off kilter rhythms (which would be great imo). Or even utilize some jazz influence's and have more complicated chord progressions, better voice leading, weird modulations etc. F*** even blues infused shoegaze would be more interesting.
Yeah like trap, the format lends itself to being abused by people with a lack of talent. Couple power chords over heavy reverb n delay and any bum can make a semi-coherent shoegaze track
This the same reason I stopped checking for new rock/punk music like that. How many groups out there really pushing boundaries like that? There's like a handful of genuinely inventive rock records to come out every year for me and that's it. The rest is trust fund kids playing with mid 90's punk pastiche as a soundtrack to their vanity

Nowadays I sigh when I see him as a feature on a track, his s*** is so uninspired & that hurts extra since I f****d with him so heavy about two years back & started doing so Rodeo-era
Holy s*** same man... It's a sad day when music that meant so much/made good memories with just doesnt hit anymore
Glad you saw the beauty in it once again
Nobody knows what this is you pretentious nerd
It’s a great album and was highly popular in France, you should give it a try
I liked the Indie Weirdo Reddit rap 3 years ago when I was 17 (Tyler, Vince Staples, all that stuff) but now I can't stand it
Rock, alternative, acoustic.. mostly listen to hip-hop or r&b.. if it doesn't have at least some elements of hip hop I don't really enjoy it. Kinda sad considering I'm rocking the Bowie avi but f*** it

Dawg idek it's honestly depressing.. it's probably just a phase because for a while I wasn't f***ing with hip hop at all..

“I don’t like s***” did a lot for me in 2015 but I can’t play that album no more these days.
