    Blame hip hop.

The Hip Hop community is the one who places expectations on "rappers" even if they never claimed to be good at rapping.

So niggas would much rather be called something else rather than having to get s*** for not proving themselves to dustheads.

Horrible example because I’m talking about the niggas that go on nterviews and clearly can’t rap more than the 5 same lines

then we are both being speculative because you are doing the same thing as me but from an opposite point of view

i don’t know if drake is the best example here, considering he’s one of the biggest musical acts in the world and most certainly has play everywhere

as far as mariah carey goes, i don’t know about that because i never heard that before, but i wouldn’t say i’d be surprised if she was told that, because back when she was really popping rap was definitely looked down on by executives / pop radio.

my whole point is in todays day and age, there is a not a world where beyoncé isn’t bigger than adele or taylor swift on pop radio

just wait until she drops another album. adele and taylor have recent releases so of course they are being played more

also what people don’t take into account is radio budget. maybe beyoncé / her team doesn’t bother to pay predominately white pop radio stations like her counter parts do. it’s not like the stations aren’t choosing her. her label has to pay to be there (with bigger stations)

I’m not being speculative, I told you it’s easy to find the facts to back up my point and you are just too lazy to do any slight research. That’s fine I’ll give you a layup.

    z100.iheart.com/music/recently-played

Highest rated pop station in nyc, over 5 million monthly listeners. Get pressing “load more” until you see a Beyoncé song. I’ll wait.

No, a lot of these people who are saying this are in a generation that grew up close to cultures that didn’t respect rap and they feel insecure about that

so they internalized it and then they feel insecure, like i said? bruh wtf u on

Rappers that cant rap call themselves artists because it is a general term that's not linked to a specific skill.. they cant call themselves guitarists or vocalists cause they cant play the instrument and got s*** voices

right, but that’s my point from my previous post - 9/10 of these songs are all recently released, beyoncé hasn’t released a major solo project in a couple of years

rap itself is a form of art but a lot of times calling someone just a "rapper" has been used in a negative way as if its inferior--which its not.

But people are trying to fight against this narrative that they're limited to this box of only being a rapper and not an artist

Unfortunately a lot of people put down rap while they're trying to make this point. which sucks because rapping is already a perfectly valid form of art and expression

I agree bro and like the s*** didn’t come from nowhere like dudes really don’t be rapping and I don’t blame ye cause I see where he coming from but niggas like uzi and trav be tripping. Like Ross up there with jay dre and ye and they be rapping they ass off aNd it don’t even sound like “rap” how smooth and poetic it be but they called theyselfs rappers I loved that s*** back in early 10s
