Word! I always mix this up with granblue fantasy relink
Finished Ys 8 on switch. Cool story, charming characters, great combat (pretty challenging at higher difficulties) and it’s pretty lengthy (~50 hours), def recommend!
Soundtrack bangs as well

did the bosses just, randomly take like 100 hits at once then just insta-die? when i played a few months back, i'd get halfway thru a boss fight, see a ton of damage numbers pop up and then the fight would end. thought it might've been the break mechanic, but don't think it works that way
idk if it was some mechanic i was missing or what

looks like it's a PC glitch that's tied to the frame rate or something. at least according to this reddit.com/r/WorldOfYs/comments/itm99y/ys_8_damage_glitch_on_pc
trivialized most bosses
you picking up ys ix next month?

apart from the obvious ones (persona 5 royal, ff7 remake, xenoblade, chrono trigger, dragon quest xi) give yakuza: like a dragon or ys viii a shot
once i heard this in the first actual area of the game there was no going back

The dub is actually amazing. Vanillaware always has solid dubs.
honestly i usually never play single player games but really love yakuza type s***.. 2 days later and this s*** is probs the best game ive ever played. story is also sad as hell.
would recommend
I think my favorite part of Like A Dragon is the Kiryu fight. It really felt like a passing of the torch type of scenario and him saying "I'm the dragon and behind me is the treasure I'm guarding" really sent it home for me
Still need to get the Definitive Edition of Dragon Quest 11, stopped 7 hours in on the original game.
Just finished Final Fantasy IX; absolutely charming game. Loved the characters (Vivi is too precious) and the cartoonish art style, and it was cool to see the series return to a high fantasy setting.

Beat 13 sentinels, finished at 35 hours and some change, probably more like 31-33 hours counting afk time
Game is great my first vanillaware game, highly recommend it
And I'd say GOTY 2020
