Both are equally influential for each eras.
Pain in Full inspired an entire era of MC'S, and 808s changed the
landscape for how hiphop will sound.
Just because I know that 80% of people here dont acc know the impact, without Paid In Full we wouldnt have Illmatic.
The sound that paid in full influenced >>>>>>>> the sound that 808’s influenced if were keeping it 💯
We gone start giving the credit to Miseducation and The Love Below for this new era emo sound idc
I def agree this gets overlooked in influencing many rappers to become more melodic but those albums dont give off emo or sad vibes at all. the content might be depressing but the sound isnt

No nigga neither one of those albums are as "emo" as 808s is love below although being dark sounds bright and happy
rakimtothe stand up
How come rap is the only genre where the newer fans disavow older classic influential acts.
Pop fans don't swear off madonna or MJ
Rock fans dont swear off van halen or pink floyd
Metal fans don't swear off black sabbath
Smh
It's possible to like Thug, Lil Baby, Future, Kodak, Polo G, etc.
&
Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Run-DMC, LL
Unfortunately people don’t take rap seriously as an art form for obvious reasons
It's really corny as hell you got people who are damn near proud to proclaim they've never listened to a prolific artist who was important to the growth of the genre. Swear it's bozos like that who got the most to say about the genre and they have very little knowledge and insight on as they probably only recently got into it.
You never listened to that artist who's an important figure in the genre you claim to be a fan of? You should probably get on that, because it's pretty damn sad. Especially when that artist influenced your favorites.
Nonblack rap fans love to do that

the 80s generation is not a good comparison tho because the genre was just starting
the MJs, black sabbaths, pink floyds of rap are not rakim and run dmc they're the 90s rappers biggie hov wu tang etc
the rakims and big daddy kanes are more like little richard, elvis, jerry lewis, who get way less love from the young generations of rock fans than the big commercial successes of the 70s
Paid in Full, it’s extremely consistent compared to 808s, but I’ve listened to 808s more in my lifetime.
