The games are already outsourced. Legends will flop if it has no content and the media s*** on it. SW/SH proved that Pokemon fans don't give a f*** about the technical side. They just want to play the same basic Pokemon game. Meaning Ohmori and Masuda's new philosophy is correct. Why make a polished game when the same ole barebone game keeps lining their pockets?

They won't underperform at ALL. Pokemon for the first time is on a major selling home console system that's soon to surpass the Wii(probably will pass the Wii by the time these games come out). Despite SW/SH having very little content, ran like s***, removed features, and hampered online battling they became the third best selling Pokemon games of all time. It became apparent that Pokemon fans do not care about stuff normal video game fans do. They just want to play the same ole same ole with their Pokemon pals. BDSP will surpass the original game sales mainly because the attach rate for switch games is extremely high especially right now. Legends will sell because of hype and controversy like SW/SH.

Pokémon fans want the same ole same ole but this game is clearly diverges enough away from the OG formula that we all grew up with. People looked past SWSH because it was the first time a Pokémon game that was mainline was on console. I would love to see what the falloff of playtime was for people a month after the game came out. I know I didn’t touch those games after beating the main story (anecdotal ofc).

I just can easily see Pokémon fans saying it’s bad. Look at BW/BW2. Probably the most honed in games of the OG 2D ones and those sold bad compared to the rest. I just think the average fan hates major change, and if the game doesn’t hold a candle to BOTW, no one gonna give two f***s about some empty ass game that runs like dogshit.

My first and last sentences don't contradict each other. It's true. Pokemon fans don't care if the games look like BOTW or Links Awakening. If they can play the same ole same ole it's enough for them. SW/SH wasn't the first mainline games on a console. Let's go was and both games are still top 10 selling Nintendo switch games. SW/SH and Lets go Pikachu/Eevee continue to sell despite neither being what people expected.

They(Game Freak) don't care about if people are playing months later. Masuda is on record saying that the reason current games lack content is because GF think people rather play on their cell phones than play on a console. They already know people probably won't be playing their game a year from now.

Sales of the games prove this point. Games like HGSS and BW2 sold like s***, but the games that are made half ass sell like hot cakes.

There both going to sell. Legends will sell because people have been BEGGING for a open world pokemon game. I mean just go back a page and look at how people are excited about a cover art for legends bro. Go back in this thread and look at how people was excited for legends but s***ted on BDSP. Me and Pixels was the only people in here actually being critical of legends while others were being blinded that it was an open world pokemon game. I honestly hope both games underperform. Game Freak needs a swift kick on the ass. They've been arrogant since XY. But who am I kidding both games are going to sell 10+ Million regardless.

Imma keep it a whole stack and say GF needs to be shoved out by TPC and Nintendo and new developers gotta take over. It’s time. GameFreak got lucky years back and they never gonna make anything good ever again

They cannot just be shoved out. Game Freak still owns part of the franchise. This is what people don't realize. It's a sorta kind of three way split of the franchise. TPCi is responsible for the merchandising and branding side and Nintendo is just the publisher. This is why Pokemon usually isn't apart of Nintendo directs and does its own thing. Neither have the power to just take the franchise from GF as I think they're still the majority owner. GF can't just take Pokemon and put Pokemon on another gaming system though. Its a symbiotic relationship. Everything that happens to the games have to actually be approved by Game Freak.

Our only real hope is the game not selling well and they change their philosophy back to having different directors. That was a cool thing they did during the DS era. Thats why we got Platinum, HGSS, And BW2. The 3D era has been a mess. The good thing about the switch is a lot of 2.5D games are making a come back.

A thing that I wish game freak would embrace is fan games. Like I wish they would give tools and allow fans to make demakes and their own remakes. Sort of like Mario Maker. That would give them more time to make better games. Their only issue really is they suck d*** at programming.

tbh the rom hacks have gotten pretty impressive over the years. would be cool for the devs to have official tools to create their games.

This is facts. They've become better and better. I recently started playing a remake of HeartGold and SoulSilver that uses Gen V graphics mixed with Gen 4 and it's fun af with all the new content added in.

i remember being genuinely impressed by some of the stuff i saw a few months back. they've made some serious strides over the past 10+ years. makes me happy to see the community is still striving and bigger than ever

People have been doing recommendations on rom hacks. The progression is amazing. I'm still waiting for more gen V Rom hacks. I love that artstyle.
