Yes, because like I explained to you Pokemon games aren't made the same as other games. Pokemon games are usually made within a year. So an alpha for Pokemon is usually a year before release. I even pointed out other games that went through similar development. They showed us very early footage from December 2020. Multiple companies work on Pokemon not just game freak and the games are always worked on a month right before release. Nobody is defending Legends, but I'm not completely s***ting on it until I see more up to date footage.

Serebii already clarified that the mainline Pokemon dev cycle is 3 years minimum. Idk where you're getting this 1 year thing.

1 year for R&D for new regions they just go and scope out the place the new region is based on and visit historical sites and museums. This stage is skipped for remakes and don't take that long. They dive Right into the second step.

1 year for art sheets, character designs, etc

1 year for actually programming the game and debugging. This step also include now creature Inc and other companies that help with 3D models and assisting in programming.

They don't spend exactly 3 years programming the game and cleaning it up. Each year is a step in the game completion. That's why the alpha of both games are dated from late last year because that's when the actual programming and game design stage started.

im thinking Legends could be different this time especially being in historic Sinnoh and i read that someone said what if they tried to make the original Legends trailer more of a teaser using a bunch of gameplay and thats the reason for so many missing things including NPCs, finished animations, menus, etc

Legends was made by the actual GF team. It still went through the same 3 years because they're doing something different. but what you're saying could be true. I'm going ask my homeboy about it. He would know more.

well the game was made while GF moved into Nintendo offices and will be the first core GF release since that happened

what if there was more internal collaboration than we think? like how we found out Monolith supported BOTW after Xenoblade's success on the Wii, and we didnt find that out until 2 months before BOTW was released

I think it is getting more help than normal. They would have needed this help. Legends is way too much of a new direction for them to do alone.

Yeah, but remember what I said. GF already is outsourcing parts of the game. A year development for them isn't the same as some of these AAA developers.

I wish Gamefreak would just let someone else make Pokemon games. This is one of the biggest ips in the world and they’re not doing s*** with it except for churning out mid projects.

I agree, but rockstar games always sell but you don’t see them making mid games, every new release is somehow even more ambitious than the last one.
