@Victorious_Korea this reminds me why’d you stop w the weekly rankings
them articles were funny as f***
yoo there were like 5 every week about this movie before and right after it released. funny enough those same ppl who were trying to pull ppl away from it only helped it make a billi

i forgot about them but now im actually too busy
Honestly any movie that’s straight up torture or gore p*** lol. Terrifier 1&2, Martyrs idk much else seen some iceberg video about it on YouTube.
how is it problematic when we are supposed to dislike the character and his actions??
Just bc the movie goes “this isn’t good” doesn’t mean the movie is good as result.
Will never understand how ppl enjoyed a movie that central plot was grooming a young girl to become a p***star. S*** was OD weird whether the movie intended to send a message or not.
Iykyk
Even the grooming a 17 yr old part?
depiction isn't endorsement... everything about that movie points to the protagonist being a huge scumbag

have you actually seen Martyrs? It's really not that violent. There is much more implied than shown. Which is effective, because its more of a commentary of the genre, and how viewers are fascinated with seeing people in pain as a way to escape their own fear of death, than anything seeking to entertain/exploit through its violence. If it was, a lot more would have been shown and lingered on

you must also think Lolita and like half of literary classics are bad, because plenty art depicts 'bad' people and situations. I'm glad movies aren't all hollywood romance about how wonderful life is all the time
I don't understand how someone would be surprised that, out of the hundred of movies that get made each year, one was made with... a legitimate, contemporary talking point? Especially when virtual p*** seems like one of the more discussed things of the past couple years? It's not like the director went out of his way to pick some obscure concept, but, with that being said, I doubt many people have thought much about the idea of a pimp for virtual s***work. Or how pimping has transformed, in some ways, with changes in how s***is consumed. So it's a great concept to give visibility too imo
It's weird that guys are predators, yeah, especially with younger women. Not sure that its weird that people want to talk and think about and make art out of it
media literacy in shambles... this topic, across the arts, for better and worse, has always been the most potent for exposing distinctions in how ppl engage their content

I’m ok with films showing the dark side of life as long as it’s not glorifying it or trying to make a romcom flick out of it like LP
my theater had a bunch of old people for this i wonder what they thought lol
there's an article i liked about this one tho called "In ‘Red Rocket’, Mikey Saber Is a Very Bad Man; How refreshing"
this movie knows who and what it's showing. it trusts the audience to feel their own feelings about it too
i think it glorified the scummy wall street persona instead of vilifying it which i think was maybe its goal.
No way you actually think this? How did it not vilify him?

peep my other comments. it’s not me personally per say, but others i’ve came across who don’t seem to find him “vilified”
Imagine having to see the cookie cutter: “bad man needs to go to jail for life and lose everything” getting chewed out for you to see the main character as a bad person

nah cmon man the glorification of the life he was living before it came crashing down was so grand that it’s very easy for people to completely look past all the horrible s*** that happens toward the end of the movie.
so so sooo many ppl wished this movie would have been problematic and it wasnt lol.
they had police outside of screenings JUST IN CASE. insane time
You know what tho, I'm glad it wasnt the case. I went to see Age Of Ultron in theaters and a tall skinny white dude wearing all camo sat in the center of the theater vaping while carrying a big ass bag
As a Black man in a racist area in racist ass south florida I was extremely nervous. I joke about the s*** but at the time I was shook.

So? It’s literally a real life story, we see it from the guys perspective and he was having an amazing time. How can something be a glorification if it’s literally something that goes down irl like that. And in the end he gets away with it, just like irl. Imo it was a breath of fresh air compared to other movies in which the bad guy goes to jail or dies and the good regular people win, cus it doesn’t go down like that irl.

I haven’t only through the video I mentioned. I mean sure that can be argued but just the fact a bunch of it comes off as snuff is odd to me. Just my personal opinion I mean the fact the chick gets skinned alive is wild as f*** to me. I just personally think that something like that can be problematic.

Facts I f***in loved wolf of Wall Street and fully disagree with the whole “it glorifies what happen” critique. It’s a f***in biopic that isn’t done in the typical cliche way.
I could be tripping but wasn't wolf of Wall Street financed with some sketchy connections

ayo he used this stolen money also for dumber and dumber 2 and daddy's home
